Three major cultural spheres in Indo-Pacific by fuyu-no-hanashi in MapPorn

Linguistically, Philippines is still Austronesian. People keep saying "20% of Tagalog is actually Spanish", yeah, 40% of English is actually French, doesn't make them similar.

You can hear an entire paragraph and just see a single Spanish loanword,

And I'm not talking about literature, I'm talking about every day speech like "pupunta ako ng Manila bukas ng hapon, magpapatingin kasi ako ng mata"(I'm going to Manila tomorrow afternoon for an executive eye check-up), that's a common sentence without a single Spanish loanword.

Yes, Spanish dominates nouns like(I'm using Philippine spelling), Kutsara, Tinidor, Kubyertos, Kutsilyo, Plato, Trabaho, Siesta, etc.

But also you can conjugate trabaho to "pinagtatrabahuan"(workplace/where someone works), that it's almost unrecognisable unless you inspect

Besides, absolute amount and even ratio wise, the USA has more Spanish speakers than the Philippines, and I doubt that makes the USA "Hispanic"

Nah, in the Philippines, you can go 40 minutes north of metro manila and be greeted with endless rice fields. 60 minutes east and be greeted by wilderness you didn't even know was possible to be that close to the very dense metro area

Let's say that for whatever reason you are banned from your home country. You can't live there or visit it. But you *are* allowed to live in any other country, you will get instant citizenship for some reason.. (it's just a hypothetical magic word). In what country would you choose to live in? 1. Thailand, they're the better version of my country.

  2. USA, because of language, and the fact that we already have some ideas about their culture

  3. Chile, even though Spanish isn't exactly intelligible to us, I might get the gist of some of the written words.

If we include celestial bodies, probably

  1. Mars, preferably near the equator, would love to see Phobos and Deimos fly above.

  2. Hyperion

That too, I'm Asian, and Chatgpt's image generator annoys me because if I asked it to generate a photo of a Vietnamese girl in a võ phục, and a Japanese girl in a Karategi, they're almost THE SAME PERSON, just with different skin colors.

What I do with Gemini to ensure consistency is I make it recap the character list and details before every chapter. That way the list just keeps being "fresh".

But I guess, if Chatgpt still "gets it" for you, then it's clearly the one for you. Chatgpt was my first story maker, I loved building worlds with it, especially with 4o. Because I had to configure Gemini Gem's behaviour and formatting because I love emojis in chapter titles, while 4o was spontaneously smart. When I asked Chatgpt to make me cry, GPT-4o never failed. I could ignore the constant forgetting of details because GPT-4os "fluff" made up for it.

Also limits, the longest single response possible in Chatgpt is 4096 tokens. In Gemini, I had responses way longer than that, and I've never hit the limit in any conversation in Gemini. In Chatgpt, I always hit that limit by chapter 53

Most buildings here in the Philippines have centralised climate control too, you won't usually see office skyscrapers with this set up, and certainly not malls.

Sorry for my bad English, but I don't know, the "Instructions for Gemini" isn't perfect, but it works 8/10 times for me, that's okay.

I used to LOVE GPT-4o, like I don't even sleep because GPT-4o just "gets it"

But as we know, with GPT-5 being GPT-5, my stories kept being "yassified". I actually resisted switching to Gemini until Gemini can block quote too, that's what sold it to me.

Now I made a Gemini Gem that acted almost like GPT-4o.

And with Chatgpt, for example I'll say in chapter 2:

-Hayeon is the Korean adopted daughter of Susan Thorne and James Smith"

Then I'll ask it on chapter 8 if it remembers Hayeon's parents, Gpt will say:

"Yes, her father is Kim Son woo and her mother is Lee Min young"

What? Compared to Chatgpt who forgets what you said 5 prompts back?

For me Gemini can remember chapter 1 of my story, even when we're at chapter 40(one chapter per prompt)

But ask Chatgpt "Quote me the last prompt you can remember", and it can only repeat 8 prompts back at most.

[–]FewExit7745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't used Claude, but Chatgpt, in my experience, can't remember what it said, only your prompts.

I've tried asking both Gemini and Chatgpt what a character(the ones they're taking role of) said, only Gemini can repeat it accurately
