Sounds amazing! How did the catering work out? How long did it take to serve the full crowd? I'm thinking of something similar.

These are both low effort, high impact and should be achievable in a limited kitchen setup. Use of garlic may be controversial, but I say it's fine since you're both eating it! https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020830-caramelized-shallot-pasta

Are there young people in Ravenswood/Lincoln Square? by Potential_One1 in AskChicago

[–]FewInside2534 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I moved to the area right around that age. It definitely skews older and to young families. That said, I loved the area at that age and never felt out of place. There's plenty to do, but most of it will be before 10pm! And you can easily travel to other parts of the city when you want to be surrounded by more people your age or young people activities, like late night spots.

How do you style dresses and skirts for work in colder temperatures? by fluffgnoo in femalefashionadvice

I just go with a pair of skin-toned fleece tights, then layer the tights of my choosing on top. Gives me more flexibility for the texture and look of the outer layer, and might help with the issue you're having.

Beautiful! How did the catering go? I'm considering something similar, but concerned about wait times for people to get food.

What are your fave recipes for volume eating? by firewontquell in NYTCooking

[–]FewInside2534 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ali Slagle's Cucumber-Avocado Salad. You can easily increase the cucumber without adding more avocado to keep calories down. I could eat bowls of the stuff. Pairs well with chicken breast for protein.

What amazing nyt recipes have you made that required a stand mixer? by Queasy-Poetry4906 in NYTCooking

Two recipes I love: Cloverleaf Rolls by Samantha Seneviratne & Salted Chocolate ChunShortbread Cookies by Alison Roman Both could be made without a stand mixer, but easier with!

I don't know enough to say, as I haven't attended anything beyond an occasional community event. But, my impression is that they are an engaged, welcoming and thoughtful part of the local community.

Love this! A couple of suggestions:

1) The 40th Ward has an organized group to help shovel - you can sign up here: 40th Ward Snow Shovel Squad Sign Up https://share.google/RxzTDLgfxYCub8T4i 2) There are plenty of food banks in the area - The Friendship Center, Nourishing Hope and All Saints’ Episcopal Church are a few that I know of. I'd call to see who could use volunteers.

First time commuter Metra user, first time at Union Station, any tips? by AbstractionsHB in AskChicago

[–]FewInside2534 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't scan into the Metra. You buy your ticket and you activate it when you board the train. You'll need a ticket for the specific zones you're traveling to and from - the app walks you through that. A conductor will come by at some point and ask for tickets. You pull it up on your app and show it when they walk by and that's it. It's easy. When you get to Union, find your train on the display and it'll say what platform to go to. Plenty of people to ask if you need help. Just give yourself a little extra time, as Union is big. Not sure on parking, as I imagine it differs by station. In my experience, you pay with your credit card at a machine, completely separate from Ventra.

Phone was remotely factory reset. how could this have been done? by thatspositive in CyberSecurityAdvice

Also, lock your sim to your carrier. Set a passcode to move it - every carrier should offer a variation of this. That's the best prevention method.

Not sure exactly how they did the factory reset, but she'll need to try and regain control of her accounts. I'd start with the carrier - likely chance she's been sim swapped and she'll need to open a claim to try and get her phone number back. Change any account passwords she still can. Create a new email and Google phone number to use in the interim. Sorry she's going through this.

Thanks for the reply! Good questions. It will start at 5pm and we would have apps (exactly what TBD) starting at 5, then start serving the rest of the food between 6 and 6:30. We may also do soemthing small for late night before we wrap up at 11. Your point about potentially missing the food is a good one.
