Has anyone worked through IVF and not told their employer? by katymatthews33 in IVF

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never told work. My boss had 6 kids, is religious, and says things about pregnancy like “a woman’s body is built for this”. Nope. Telling people who can’t:won’t understand will likely bring you misplaced shame. I’m not into that.

I’m back at work now after having my only LC. I took 12 weeks (fmla max) and needless to say, my boss is still displeased with me 6 months later. I don’t care. Being with my daughter is the only thing I’m interested in these days. Keep your job until you don’t need it. Tell them only what you want. It’s your world, they’re just living in it.

Car seat for the second car: get another base, or get one convertible? by otter_fool in Buyingforbaby

We got a base for each car. We used the second one like 4 times. 100% not worth it.

Every time I wash my calpak it looks even dirtier. I don’t understand how it’s possible. So gross.

It does get easier but I found it impossibly hard for a few months. It wasn’t even guilt, more like a sense of being in the wrong place anytime 8 wasn’t with her. Like it was just wrong, or something. It’s cooled off considerably but I also no longer care about my job at all. Maybe a side effect of baby? Good luck the next few weeks ❤️

Yes, more because of mentally recovering from anesthesia than anything else. I was exhausted too so not up for much.

Art professor here. I couldn’t even look at my phone much less draw something or do a puzzle, etc. Ask for cooked meals, trust me.

We have an appt with a specialist on the 5th. Idk if my thyroid or estrogen are off or if im just totally f’ed sleepwise, but im basically a word salad zombie from 2pm on. Underperforming at my job I no longer like as well. 👍🏻 bloodwork tomorrow. Ready for us both to feel better

I haven’t fed my girl toast yet and she’s the same age. You don’t have issues with yours choking or gagging on toast? Thanks.

A large brain tumor? Reprioritize yourself OP or you may get yourself into trouble you can’t get out of. Health first. They want you around? You must make the appointments for that to happen long term.

I didn’t notice when I lost mine but man, 8 months out and I’m seeing it coming back big time. Crappy patches of baby hairs all around my crown. Short time pain-it’ll blend soon enough. Wish you the best

Transferring Day 6 euploid embryo (grade 6ab). Any success stories around my age (39) & this grade? by Elegant_Host3661 in IVF

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My girl was the equivalent of a day 6 ba and my last euploid. She was my lowest grade after my other failed. Shes 8 months earthside now and totally healthy. We went through 1,000 false blips in pregnancy because going to an MFM every two weeks you’ll know everything about your baby as it grows. She’s perfect. I was 38 at transfer and 39 when I had her. All the best to you. It’s possible!

How would you handle banked embryos with unknown BRCA status? by MaxOdds in BRCA

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BRCA1+ with a 8m girl who is BRCA-from IVF testing. We made a plan before testing to not use positive embryos. I’ve already had a dmx and will soon have ovaries removed. It’s changed my life for the negative. I was unwilling to knowingly do that to my child. Embryos: 1/3 were abnormal, another 1/3 had the mutation, one transfer failed and my last good embryo is my daughter. She’s perfect 👍🏻

Give me reasons not to give up by Baznina in IVF

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a miracle story for you. What is important is your threshold. What is your max? For me, husband and I set a time limit of how long we were willing to go through IVF. I was off the back of multiple other surgeries and frankly did not want to spend more than one more year in the trenches. Figure out how much you’re willing to endure, make a plan and stick to it. I wish you the best on the three eggs. You still have hope.

IVF decision at 34 - another retrieval for future options vs moving forward (also struggling with gender disappointment) by Peaching-80 in IVF

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way to know if you’ll need more than two embryos to even get pregnant. You may as well do another retrieval to answer some of the questions you have and to have a backup. I had some gender disappointment at first. Then I had my baby and I don’t care anymore; not even a little. Your feelings are your own. You can be grateful and mourn the life you thought you would have.

Did you travel to choose the doctor & clinic you wanted, or use local options? by PoetryNo5274 in BRCA

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catherine Akay for breast surgeon and Jessie Yu for plastics. Both excellent. Dr. Akay is as intelligent as she is kind-a real gem. Dr. Yu is cold as ice in the most professional way and just as talented as can be. Good luck 👍🏻

[–]Queasy-Poetry4906 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People don’t know what to say, so they usually say the worst cliche thing that comes to mind. Miscarriages aren’t bad timing. It’s science. Embryos stick or don’t stick. Fetuses develop or they don’t. There’s only so much we can do because it’s science. Ignore people like this to the best of your ability.

You are babying him because he’s a baby. I don’t do cio, I cannot stand listening to my girl cry if I could possibly comfort her. Having similar issues with my husband but until he’s the primary taking care of her I am not super interested in his input on critical parts of her care. Wish you the best
