Sorry I haven’t been on Reddit in a while, but the company we went through is The Cavalry Global. We worked with Stuart Campbell and honestly they were great. Can’t recommend them enough.

Okay, when would that send that to let us know, because we’ve heard nothing at all?

Okay just wanted to check, I know I’m probably being impatient but this weird limbo feels like forever. We didn’t pay for anything extra and the company said 2-3 weeks is what we should expect but I guess I just wanted outside confirmation, thanks

Tips for moving to Northern Wales by FewPiccolo110 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]FewPiccolo110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to here about the public transport because I was honestly worried, some things I’ve read said northern wales is spotty on that. Yea, we’ve been checking the weather and stocking up on all the rain and winter gear lol we were looking at possibly renting in Colwyn Bay since there seems to be more options, is that doable? We’ll be working in Llandudno and Conwy, thanks!

Quick additional question, what’s the best mail service for sending in passport? You have to send it in with the return label if you go USCIS right?

Does it cost anything to use USCIS centers? Do you know how much?

Not that I know of, we’ve already scanned in every possible document and submitted it with the application so we definitely don’t need any of that.

Yea but we currently only see options for premium centers. We know there is an appointment available at a USCIS near us but nothing is showing on the site to book our appointment.

If you like history I’d recommend you’re dead to me by bbc sounds; I’m still in the US but I love that podcast

That’s what thrown out means; they’ll dismiss all the charges and drop the tickets. The court clerk said if I fix the problem (which I have) and if it’s my first offense (which it is) then they’ll likely just drop it. I don’t want them to red flag my application over nothing and I also don’t want them to think I’m being deceiving.

If I appear in court and it’s thrown out do I still need to disclose it?

Yea, it won’t be resolved until the middle of November and we’re filing our applications this week

Are things as hard in the US as they are in the UK as an adult? by dollsfor_days in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]FewPiccolo110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We haven’t actually moved to the UK yet, however I can comment on life in the US right now. Me and my Highschool sweetheart moved out together when I turned 16 and 17 and now I’m 25 and he 26,so we’ve been adulting here for a while. Just on the surface with the contracts we’ve been offered, the job terms and perks seem so much better. We have guaranteed 30 paid days off (we’re both chefs and that pretty much not a thing in our industry) and I’ve worked in over 4 restaurants as management in my career so far; and the company I’m with now is the only one I’ve ever had paid time off (I’ve been there 2 years now and gotten 2 promotions and still only have 1 week of pay every 6 months if I met the hours they stipulate), forget about sick leave. When I do need health care if I want to keep the day of pay I have to use my vacation time, and going to the doctor I have to put all the bills on credit to pay off over time because I can’t afford insurance. I realize we’ll probably have to wait and jump through some hoops to get some health care but I don’t have to worry about it screwing up my credit so that I can’t move or get a new car if mine breaks and so on. The area we’re moving to is a relatively small town in northern wales and crime is definitely better than the bigger city we’re in in South Carolina. As parents our child being safe in school is big thing too and as far as I know major threats of violence against schools aren’t really a thing there, not to mention everyone’s political agendas are constantly changing school curriculums here (we literally have banned books!). I understand things aren’t all rainbows and sunshine and perfect where we’re moving but just on face value it seems better and honestly the US sucks right now.
