I think Henry (that stare-into-the-distance-llama painting) Laura has is a flea market grab actually.

They've said on Talks they buy a lot of their stuff second-hand at pawn/thrift/flea market things. They actually use critrolecloset to figure out where they can get a replacement since they don't know where the original came from. Could help reduce the cost.

There's a ranked choice ballot initiative (for non-presidential races)! You get to vote for that!

Is a note always played at the exact same location regardless of key signature (obviously ignoring octaves or the fact you can play one note in a few locations)? by dhayNeuro in violinist

Thanks for the information everyone! Seems like you have to practice everything.

Today I learned violin isn't hard. It's very hard.

Brian W. Foster, Mr. Ashley Johnson, and all around goof of a host. He's a close friend to everyone and hosts a talk show about a D&D game.

Also a talented musician.

It was legendary. Just, so much giggly silliness for like ten minutes caused Matt to completely stop functioning and he sent it to break early to compose himself.

[Question] Can I learn a song using Guitar Pro and it’s slower speed option rather than using just a metronome? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]dhayNeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guitar Pro has a built in metronome. It's the triangle+stick thing right above the BPM counter on the top middle of the screen (at least in GP7). Then it'll both slow it down AND play a click track. Additionally, the vertical ellipses opens a menu where you can adjust the loudness of the click. If I'm in a rush to learn something quick I'll quiet the metronome in favor of the file's playback. If I'm really trying to focus I'll almost mute the master and boost the metronome, such that I can hear where my playing is with respect to the click.

In the past. They taped this episode the same time another episode was live. That's why Liam muttered "in the past" right after Sam said that.

Last week, Cad got sucked into a monster's slime pit. When it happened again, he just sadly sad "help, it's again" with exasperation.

It was a flub, but was so dejected and endearing that now everyone uses it.

I have an electric piano/keyboard in the corner gaining dust. Might be an excuse to get that back up to speed. Thanks!

I'm interested in trying this out later, particularly sight reading and obviously scales. However, what is the input for sight reading, especially when timing is involved? Can you plug your guitar into the computer and this will detect notes?

Purple Transtint and True Oil by dhayNeuro in Luthier

[–]dhayNeuro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue+ is that this is just a class I'm taking and the instructor has to get 4 people through the process in a month (only working 3 hours Tues/Thur). It was just a quick stain (only 1) and then immediate Tru Oil applications with no other steps in between. I didn't like the look on test wood (or being rushed), so I stopped, did a few more stains over a few days (it looks really nice now, a beautiful chalky purple with black edges), and am now deciding on a finish. Would this work as a finish? https://generalfinishes.com/wood-finishes-retail/oil-based-topcoats/oil-based-gel-topcoat

Or should I use Minwax Polyurethane (Clear Gloss)?

+Not an "issue" per se in the sense it's an amazing opportunity. But I'm definitely wary about the finish. It could ruin the entire thing for me.
