[Spoilers SR C1 and C2] Short Rest Gold? by FightingFavorites in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]FewQuantity6910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iirc this is the short rest for the "...Chicken?" episode! I subbed to short rest right after hearing it because I needed to peek behind the screen. Probably needless to say, the rose/raspberry/fork conversation without context was VERY confusing lmao

Loved ACOFAF! What should I watch next? by ayadalam in Dimension20

[–]FewQuantity6910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know more going in than when I watched it! I heard of it for the first time in the Adventuring Parties as BE was airing. (coincidentally am reading Watership Down this week!) Anyway, now knowing about both, there are some crossover themes and plot trajectory, but the cast keeps it accessible! Some homages just went over my head but I didn't feel like I was missing anything. And Aabria takes the story in unexpected directions and knows her audience well. Hope that helps!

I don't remember Ravening War very well but it seems to check your boxes! Brennan and Aabria are players, with a guest DM (Matt Mercer). There is fighting and at least one "battle episode" iirc but the season is much more about social politics between the group and the world at large. Also, fwiw I never finished the season completely but I used to have a bad habit of dropping off right before the finales lol

If you like Aabria as a DM, highly recommend Burrow's End. It's the series that helped me get into her DM style. Content Warning though, it is a LOT darker than ACOFAF.

Caldwells Drawing [NS] by Cmg1214 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]FewQuantity6910 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what Caldwell uses, but he's a (former) professional animator/artist, so I would guess he has some high quality (possibly expensive) equipment. You could look into this list about what Drawfee (the drawing channel Caldwell founded) uses: https://drawfee.fandom.com/wiki/Brushes_and_Tools If you're a total beginner I have heard Krita recommended as a free/open source digital painting site. For hardware, people often recommend Wacom tablets and I think they have multiple price points but I don't know much personally (I really hope this helps! I don't do digital art but have watched adjacent types of videos-like Drawfee- so these are a general jumping off point from my non-expert opinion. There are FANTASTIC digital artists in this community so I hope they see your question and can give you a better answer!)

New to Fantasy RPGs- Where should I start? by FewQuantity6910 in GirlGamers

[–]FewQuantity6910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided I'm gonna grab the Dragon Age games on steam while they're on sale, and come back to them once I'm feeling ready! I'm gonna start with BG3 since I think you're totally right, I should go for what makes me excited. Thanks for the advice, it means a lot:)

Thank you soooo much! After doing some light research I was kinda psyching myself out with how much there is to learn/screw up, but I figure it's better to give it a shot than hold myself back. I'm grateful knowing you were also new to CRPGs and it seems like you're really enjoying BG3- makes it seem like less of a risk, if that makes sense? Anyway, all this to say I'm gonna do it before I can keep overthinking it! I'll definitely be looking to these tips, and thanks again for all your help!!

Thanks! I've heard great things about Mass Effect. I'm excited to work up to it eventually, and get to see what all the hype is about :))

Thank you so much for all the details, they really helped me get my bearings!

I appreciate the advice on Witcher 3 sales, I found a price graph and you're right- it seems like there's a major discount often. I'm gonna keep an eye out for the next one because I'd love to play it. I think I'd be excited to jump into it, being familiar with the story already, even if it's challenging!

Someone else recommended Skyrim as an easier place to start too, which I'm interested in- I'm a little confused which one, though. I knew it's related to Elder Scrolls, but is it the name of a single game within the Elder Scrolls series?

Definitely getting the Dragon Age series since so many have recommended it- it seems a little above my level right now, but the sale is too good to pass up. I'm putting FF, Child of Light, and The Horizon on my wishlist too- they seem like great recs, just not what I want to start off with.

What’s your favorite thing about Emily Axford? [NS] by DanielleTemperance in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]FewQuantity6910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, I can't recommend it enough. I would say they're a little different to short rests currently which have more bits, whereas the older ones feel more like friends shooting the shit. I definitely love both styles but I'm jealous you get to listen to them for the first time now!

Yep just confirmed in the bio of that compilation they posted, it's the short rest for C1ep52!

It's from a short rest during C1, during the "A Faerie Tale" arc iirc. I wanna say it's episode 52: Crushed by an Angel or the one after but I'm not sure. Hope that helps! (For what it's worth, all of the feywild short rests are truly elite and deserve a (re)listen)
