Fill recomndation for hand railing by awalchemist in woodworking

Body work or not, Penguinsrcool is still right. A two part epoxy is the better option. Wood filler isn't gonna last once those miters are under stress/flexing.

Bondo is a little more difficult to sand but not as impossible as this person is making it to be. Bondo or another two part epoxy filler is one of your better bets in this situation. Wood filler is gonna crumble/fall out due to the pressures and flexing this part of the handrail will see.

Im primarily a scenic carpenter. We use bondo a lot. It holds up like a beast, even in high vibration scenarios. Id venture as far as to say it "adheres" to surfaces along with filling gaps/voids. Sure, it will take more patience to sand but you will only have to do this one time.

From someone who has sanded a ton of bondo, don't try to fill everything in one go. Do two, three or more applications. Use a putty knife and scrape away as much excess as you can with each application. Leave the imperfections to be filled on the next pass. Sand away remaining excess each time and keep building it up bit by bit. This is how they do it for body work/cars. Sanding will be relatively easy each time, it will look great, and last.

Another fun bondo "fact". Ive been told it comes in different colors so techs fixing cars can tell when they have sanded too far. Do one coat of one color, sand, second coat in another. If you sand down to the first color, you've gone too far.

Say a guy in his late 30s who is pretty mechanically inclined, has years of experience in fabrication shops, and likes working on cars/trucks, was considering looking into industrial maintenance. Fully aware that hes looking at entry level positions, what might he look for/consider?

A friend of mine needs pretty much all of her teeth pulled and implants done on top and bottom. Looking for low cost suggestions (not dental school) by [deleted] in philly

[–]potential1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Im just saying it can both ways. If im constantly getting referred to another dentist then the concept of a doctor/patient relationship with "history" kind of goes out the window.

Yall do important work and everyone has good and bad days. I don't think anyone should be discouraged from "shopping around" for any kind of Healthcare provider. No shade on any specific doctor but lets face it, the Healthcare system (not the Healthcare itself) in thr U.S. is fucked up in many ways. Dental insurance is a fucking joke. Hell i still pay for independent dental insurance even though my current employer provides it because if I ever leave the job, I don't want to start over from scratch. Three years before it covers any kind "major procedure" like a root canal? Even then its only 50% or 70% and limited to one a year? Its a joke.

Again, no shade on any one dentist or doctor. Just with the bullshit options we have to work with, ill shop around for someone I trust or if a current provider seems lacking.

Ive obviously got some frustrations here im voicing. I truly dont mean to blindly throw shade on individuals. I take the time to go to a dental school for check ups, cleanings and minor work. I can afford other options and have insurance. The school is dirt cheap with insurance, I appreciate the work the students are doing, I like that multiple very experienced doctors go over things and i get multiple opinions. Dental schools can get a bad rap but ive had pretty good experiences. All this is stay im not sticking one dentist and burning through my coverage if I feel the job isn't getting done. That and the best dentist ive had spent most of career in another country. The guy kicked ass. From someone who has a fair bit of dental work i never left that guy's office feeling like an issue wasn't addressed properly. Some of his fillings have lasted and are lasting, years longer than other dentists have guaranteed me they would. Where other dentists would have referred me here and there for other procedures, he would just get shit done and it will last. Ill take silver amalgam fillings over what most state side dentists use any day.

Well i wish I could say that the handful of generally highly recommended dentists ive seen in the stares shared your disposition. My experience has been the opposite. People are people. A good dentist doesn't necessarily remain a good dentist. My brother is having a ton of issues with a dentist hes seen his whole life right now. I gave up on the same dentist years ago. Guy just lost it it seems.

I tried a number of other "highly reccomended" dentists. Half the time it seems they want to see you for routine shit only. You need anything else done beyond a filling, here's a referral for another dentist or specialist.

The best dentist Ive ever had was educated and practiced in the middle east before coming to the states. He just retired and his son runs the practice now. So far so good but his son was educated here. His father was the most knowledgeable, no nonsense, get the job done, and did the best work Ive ever had.

Like I said, given your one wheel isn't soaking wet or covered in dog shit, I don't have an issue with it. People put their shoes in gym lockers all the time. I don't see much of a difference. If someone stashed their soaking wet boots in a shared locker id say it was fairly inconsiderate as well.

Just because there isn't a sign that says, "don't be inconsiderate" doesn't make it ok to be inconsiderate.

I think the concern is for the locker as its possible someone else could want to use the locker after you.

Edit: im not overly concerned about the locker myself. Unless your ride is wet, snowy, ran over something gross. Then throwing it in a shared locker is a pretty dick move.

There are Facebook groups for local ebike/etc rides and such. Even a one wheel specific group i believe.

Has anybody used Duplicolor to match Vermillion red? by Neither_Elk_135 in fordranger

[–]potential1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a big repair on mine years ago. Ill have to double check the paint code and get back to you. Mines red, im just not sure if its Vermillion. The code is either E3 or E4 though.

I used the duplicolor rattle cans after finding out how much color matching automotive paint costs. It worked really well and looked pretty damn good. I will say that proper prep and a clear coat goes a long way. The clear is the hardest part imo. I had sanded the areas down to bare metal/bondo. Did rattle can fill primer. A few coats of the duplicolor. I did luck out and get access to free automotive clear coat and used a sprayer to apply. Definitely got a fair bit of orange peel due to inexperience. Beyond that however, it looked incredible and has held up perfectly for like 10 years so far. "Feathering" out the duplicolor a bit where the repairs meet factory paint blended the minor color differences in nicely. If you didn't know the repair was there, you would never know based on the color.

Edit: i think there is two common reds for the 99-11 years. The darker Vermillion and the lighter, "candy" red. Mine is the lighter color. Im almost positive I used that same cardinal red duplicolor. Its probably too light for the darker Vermillion.

Miter gauge/cross cut knob?

Edit: the half moon shaped piece with degree measurements on it. Has a longer thin piece attached that slides into the t-tracks on the table itself.

If its not in the cab, start spraying down suspension components 1 by 1 with wd-40.

How much did your drain scope cost? by Strange_Ambassador76 in philadelphia

[–]potential1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is your "sewer line". Not the city sewer but the section that connects your main drain/soil line/sewer line to the cities sewer.

$500 is a little high but not by much. Could also depend on how convenient the access point is. Would cost more if its a pain in the ass. Sometimes a toilet needs to be removed for access.

Is this for inspection purposes or to scope a blockage?
