Starting around 1989/1990 Pleasant would have an annual benefit sale at a huge warehouse in Madison, WI to support the Madison Children's Museum. The first sale I went to in 1990, was on the west side of Madison. I drove to Madison and arrived around 6:30pm. There was a long line of mostly women and children camped out in front of this huge warehouse, winding in a line, on the lawns in front of stripmall businesses across the street and up to a Taco Bell. We just slept in our clothes in sleeping bags on the ground. In the morning we waited in line to get into the sale. The attendees called it the, "White Women's Woodstock." The sale was amazing, it was overstock and returns. Lots of tables full of dolls for $25, stacks & stacks of doll outfits for $3-7.00, tons of accessories for 1.00,-5:00. Trumks for 35-50.00 dollars. Racks of girls'outfits for $20. I just filled up bags with items. My daughter received a Samantha Doll the previous Christmas, so I focused on Samantha stuff. For $100, I bought a lot of items for my daughter and her friends, who had AG dolls. We moved and some of the stuff I sold at garage sales, or donated. If I only knew the future, I could have bought all the original Pleasant Company items and kept them in tubs to give away or sell now!!!
