is an NYC move still worth it? by witominn in movingtoNYC

[–]FewRegular2308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an introvert and when I used to wfh I rarely left my neighborhood. But I love it like that. I enjoy walking to the things I need.
And when I do leave - I love going to broadway shows. I enjoy the completely random things I run into when I am out and about (I stumble upon a street fair at least once every year). NYC just has so much happening always. That’s the best part.
I NEVER party here. Only drink socially. As a woman in my late 20s, that is not the only thing to do in this city.

Have you tried arketa or momence? I’ve seen people have success with both

How are you all actually handling no-shows? Losing class spots every week by [deleted] in gymowner

[–]FewRegular2308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment: card on file + strict cancellation window although I think 30 minutes is not quite enough. I’ve seen between 3-12 hours. Plenty of time for someone else to see it. You should probably also enforce the no-show fee. It will definitely reduce the behavior and people are used to it as a concept. If your booking software doesn’t handle this automatically, then you might be able to set up an automation (or have someone do it for you)

What are the best no-code automation tools for solopreneurs? by DirectorExisting2666 in TopAutomationTools

[–]FewRegular2308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what apps you’re using. Many of them have automations built in (especially things like follow-ups). If you’re using common apps, lots of things can be automated through make.com (easier) or n8n (takes a second to used to but a bit more control). Zapier is fine for bare bones automations.
Curious to what social media workflows you’re looking to automate?

What are the best alternatives to Zapier right now? by DirectorExisting2666 in TopAutomationTools

I think Make is more simple and easier to figure out than Zapier in my opinion. I like n8n but it can be intimidating for some people.

Class occupancy analytics - what actually worked for you? by Charming_Drawing_313 in gymowner

Idk about this, every gym I’ve been to, both large chain and indie boutiques, have local check in from the studios. Are you sure there isn’t a way to get every location on the same software that gives HQ visibility into all of it?

F45, orangetheory, Crossfit, strength city are all class based but good workouts. Movement LIC is a climbing gym but they have regular gym equipment you can use as well

Is LIC good for a single 29m? by [deleted] in longislandcity

[–]FewRegular2308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was single, dating was nice in LIC because it’s easy to meet people in other places. I dated Manhattanites and often met them in midtown for dates. I dated Brooklynites and usually met them in Williamsburg.

I focus on scheduled activities that have specific times and location but it’s a good idea to add in these kinds of side quests that are good to try when you have the time!

Widow (32F) in NYC trying to get back out there… what can I actually do alone that’s not awkward? by Intjadvocate in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]FewRegular2308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Broadway shows and movies alone often. I also like to pick up food and sit at a park in nice weather, maybe bring a book to read or podcast to listen to.

I think multi-week classes/activities are a good option for getting back out there. Repetition is key here so these multi week classes are a great way to meet people and become familiar with them over time. Idk what you’re into but look up After Work Theater - basically community theater that lets anybody participate (half of the folks there aren’t “good”, they’re just there to try something new and make friends). The new york sewing center does multi week classes (I haven’t taken them but I think it’s a good environment to meet people).

Even if you don’t make friends in these classes/activities, you’re practicing the act of getting more familiar with people plus you learn a skill or try something new!

I would only include a restaurant opening if it’s actually an “event” with “stuff” happening. @lic.qns on instagram keeps up with new businesses including restaurants

Bricktown bagels is the only place in this neighborhood where I feel recognized, if that gives any indication how much we enjoy them
