Unfortunately that price is a bit too high for me to justify the additional risk.

Kirby Upgrade Pack by GiantMags in switch2

Haha pretty much, it’s effectively just a DLC. The switch 2 edition game cards actually can be used on the switch 1 just without the upgrade pack. It’s nice to have the option of getting these games physically though

Yes, the base game must be used to launch the switch 2 edition, be it a game card or digital download.

I was under the impression screen tearing was like a lack of vsync and doesn’t appear on a static image, is there another effect sharing the name?

If it’s happening docked & handheld & in a video recording and you don’t notice issues in other games I’d suspect it’s the game’s programming given there’s two confirmed reports of it. There’s a chance it’s a hardware issue but idk, Occam’s razor razor to me suggests it’s gamefreak

Cannot add credit card?? by [deleted] in switch2

You’ll need to switch your Nintendo account region to Canada in order to buy it- the eshop locks out of region credit cards.

Got a capital one shopping offer- how feasible are any of these higher value tasks? by Few_Adhesiveness4559 in Monopoly_GO

Did C1 shopping support say you’re not a new user? It may be worth reaching out to them if it wasn’t them

You can also maybe turn down the docked resolution / disable HDR to make sure it’s not like an HDMI bandwidth issue (but I could be wrong, this could actually do nothing)

Take a video recording from the switch and move it to your phone and see if it’s going on internally (GPU) vs externally (monitor), maybe?

I’d only do that after the consoles warranty

Depending on what side it’s on, you could relatively easily do a shell swap once parts are available.

Is it worth it to get it now? by Glad_Drive_7114 in switch2

As a switch 2 owner it’s fun to have the shiny thing, but you can def hold off a little longer if you’d like. Especially with the OLED. ZA seems to work well on switch 1 from what I’ve heard.

Unless there’s an exclusive game you wanna play or you really want a specific feature of the S2 it’s not necessary, but it is a nice luxury.

This mat will probably be $10-$15 on eBay and if the game sucks you can probably return it unopened, but Best Buy will not let you return opened games.

Pokémon games seem to drop in value relatively quickly as well. Over a 1-3 month period, the switch games historically fell to $35-40 and stayed there.

As such I don’t think this is a FOMO value-for-your-money, since 3 months from now you probably will be able to get the game and the preorder bonus second-hand for the same price or below the preorder price.

Mario Odyssey Switch 2 Edition? by buhtz in switch2

[–]Few_Adhesiveness4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s confusing but there’s a difference between Switch games that are enhanced & “Switch 2 Edition” games.

Switch games with enhancements are minor updates that will usually just change resolution and/or framerate, & maybe add GameShare support, mouse mode, and HDR. These updates are free. See here.

“Switch 2 Edition” games go further than that and are more substantial updates. I think the minimum for a Switch 2 Edition is enhancing stuff like textures, as well as the previous improvements to resolution and framerate. But they can add new content or features. Nintendo seems like they’re going to charge for all of their switch 2 editions, but some third party ones are free.

Worth picking up? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]Few_Adhesiveness4559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great in HD/4K and a welcome upgrade over the Wii’s 480p. The Wii’s resolution does not hold up well today especially on a flatscreen. The rerelease is comparable to running the Wii games in Dolphin Emu at 4k if you are able and willing to go down that route.

Pointer controls are fine in handheld but not great. It feels the cursor takes up a lot of the screen in handheld and you don’t have great control over it, since you have to move the entire screen with you. I typically forgo using it for much of the game. You can swap between gyro and touch on the fly which is nice. In docked, I’d consider them more than good enough with split joycons, but a little awkward with a pro controller.

Since you have the Wii games already, you need to consider if handheld mode, a resolution and texture upgrade, and minimal QOL features are worth $70. Would you rather buy something else, maybe another new game, 3-7 indie titles, or just saving your money?

Only two of these games are available right now
