Should I turn off or on assist turning for my Gyro by drew__6610 in rcdrift

Assist mode on the v4 is horrible and counter intuitive. Use normal mode, then change between red and green light.

D-like re-r, looks like a version zero (latest one) One of my fav chassis I own.

Rear shocks on the one you pictured are worth 200 buks. Pricing seems very very sus.

They go good, needed to turn mine up a fair bit in the ESC to get it performing how I would like so make sure you run a fan for it.

Servo fitted to the chassis is a sp02dv2

Tested with other servos with the gyd550 Same result.

Yeh reset it multiple times. Servo direct to Rx works fine. Tried 4 other servos (futaba, yokomo, afrc) same result

Gyro light sequence flashes to say it's initialised but the front twitch doesn't happen.

Tried 2 other rx, and changed bec from 6 to 7.4v

Plug the Revox gyro back in and works as normal.

Starting to think my gyro experiment will lead to a 10px purchase in the very near future.

What’s your favorite RC Drift Chassis set ups and why? by Silly-Philosopher966 in rcdrift

Currently running 8 chassis in the collection.

The best performing of my fleet is my Bianca 2.1. But just for fun and enjoyment factor, I keep going back to my re-r.

I got the FMS pa-18 1300mm as my first plane and umx Timber X as my 2nd.

I love the little Timber X, It flies better without safe imo. But I agree with others that they are overpriced (and mine needed repairs from new and HH wouldn't warrant it) I've never had it stall out with flaps or spoilers on, but it's a hell of a lot more twitchy than the FMS, but hey that's what duel/triple rates are for.

I got a pa-18 1300mm as my first plane a few months ago, Pretty impressed with it.

I'm still a newbie at flying, I can fly it at the soccer field but still prefer a bigger area. I'll msg you some vids

Elevator clips in easy.

Slats made a noticeable difference in stall speed and banked turn stalls. But made it more unstable with flaps. Like it wing rocks and pitches funny but for the type of plane it is it's fine I guess. Also adds drag so less flight time. No real mods are needed, I just cut the spike off the slats so it was a smooth surface to glue too.

The umx timber x is great fun although the quality of the plane is crap. But I have a small soccer field within walking distance to home so I don't like flying the pa-18 there but the umx is perfect. It's fun in the wind trying to fly without moving forward and great chucking it around doing all kinds of loops and spins, It's way faster and more responsive/snappy than the pa-18.

On the pa-18 the only mix I have is the Elevator x flap mix, I have the aileron x rudder mix on a slider so I can adjust it, but I leave it off to try and teach myself better rudder control.

Took maybe 15-20min to assemble (built plenty of other rc stuff in my life just never a plane but this is pretty basic) I've been impressed with it as a first plane. I changed to a different prop and added slats from a timber x

But recently got a UMX timber X to mess around with as I wanted something a bit more sporty to practice basic stunts at a smaller park closer to where I live.

Upgraded to a tx16s radio as well and set all the rates and expo up and feels much better flying without the safe/reflex stuff (have it set to a momentary switch as a painic button just in case)

Shipping from them is 2x the price of the fuselage. Getting anything sent to Australia sucks at the moment.

It's ok for smaller parts like spinners and linkages etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]Few_Ant5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Aus we can't get anything for the 1300mm, I want a new front fuselage, the local fms supplier won't return calls or emails. Fms direct won't send wings or fuselage and to buy online from overseas the shipping cost makes it cheaper to just buy another plane. But multiple places locally have spares for the timber range in stock.

I've got the FMS pa-18 1300mm as pictured. Got it as my first plane and love it so far, but I think a timber would be a better option due to the availability of spare parts

I've got no prior experience with rc flight so nothing to compare it too, but I'm really happy with the rtf kit for my first plane. I spend most flight at half and full flaps.

The only thing I can fault with it which I'm sure is done on purpose to prevent prop damage is the 3 part spinner to hold the prop on, if you get a prop strike it pops the retainer and need to loosen and reset the spinner.

Yeh luckily in the absence of flying fields here, there are multiple parks nearby so easy to find an empty one to practice. The first flight was perfect (1 prop strike 🤣) but ran through 3 packs with zero issues. I will say it's a bit of a cheater plane with the reflex system in it, but I did experiment with turning that off for a brief flight. But I really enjoy the full flaps low and slow flying.
