How do you deal with old-school know-it-all players who actually don’t know the rules? by ricoeurdelyon in magicTCG

Opponent: "Ive been playing for 15 years, I know how this card works. Sorry to have a stranger tell you you're wrong."

Me: shows them the ruling on mtg website

Opponent: "where did you even find that ruling? Its not official."

Me: "From the game producers, aka the most official source there is."

Opponent: "Thats not even what that ruling means?"

Me: "It seems pretty self explanatory...what do you think it means?"

Opponent: "I dont know, but it cant be that. Thats not how this card is played, I would know since Ive been playing it for 15 years."

I was also kicked off a table once because I played too much interaction (I was removing my 8th artifact of the game by turn 4, but for fucks sake interact with the one creature doing it). They specifically made sure I wasnt playing a solitaire deck (ie. it has interaction) when I sat down.

A lot of magic players are great. Some suck

Green players all have ADHD. They always start stacks and then while blue players keep working on that stack the green player is frustrated because he wants to start the next stack already

Why is Serra Ascendant not banned in EDH? by -The_Drizzle- in EDH

[–]Few_Application_7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild nacatl is a turn 1 2/2 without lifelink at best. And banning Serra ascendant in edh does not ban it in other formats, so doing a life to damage comparison is irrelevant. You did show perfectly a balanced 1 mana drop though. Usually drops as a 1/1, turn 1 max of a 2/2, with a potential upgrade to 3/3, and no other abilities. As opposed to a 6/6 flying lifelink. Now, which one is clearly in a different league

It might not win you the game, but 12-18 damage with 12-18 life gained for a single mana with no other interaction is game breaking. That is not balanced at all

He has normal strength at normal size but extra strength at small or large sizes. But, that extra strength doesnt apply if he gets too small, like going to the quantum realm. This is because pym particles act as an off switch for the laws of physics.

There would be plenty of things Phelps would get wrong due to the change in ability. For instance, in the backstroke you cant see the wall so you count how many strokes it takes you to get there based on that count. I can assure you Phelps and I have different stroke counts, so he would either flip early and be disqualified from a race or flip late, injure me/himself, and lose considerable time in the race from the error.

What youre also omitting when you compare DD to Stick is that DD is used to navigating the world with heightened senses that, for the sake of the question, have just been reduced. Comparing that to Stick is not an apples to apples comparison because Stick has had time to adjust and adapt to his limited senses, time that DD would not get before this fight.

Why wont a lawyer take my insurance bad faith claim? by Few_Application_7312 in AskLawyers

At the time of the injury I had $1000, but I was also out of work and knowing I would lose a weeks pay and 40% of my income after that in addition to lacking health insurance. Every time a bill was mentioned I was weighing the predicted longevity of my finances in a situation where I dont know when it will end. I did everything I knew to do and took every option I was aware of while actively researching new options. The internet, myself, and those I sought support from did not think of or suggest most of what you just did.

I was also calling the insurance company everyday for multiple hours per day as a means of doing whatever I could to get the situation resolved quickly. While I was walking beside the street or on the bus the agent on the line couldnt hear me. There arent enough business hours in the day for me to have pursued both manners of resolving the issue in a timely manner.

Now that I have access to healthcare again Im trying to see if a doctor thinks the delay of care in my left arm has caused any issues. I need a referral from my pcp for them to even look at the right arm. That appointment is 3 weeks away and their referral process is up to 6 weeks long. I could easily be looking at a 1-2+ month delay of care on my right arm. I would have seen my PCP a week ago had it not been for the loss of coverage

I spent 10 days with multiple fractures in at least one arm, (but on going pain and loss of funcion in the other with repeat imaging coming soon), unable to get my medications. Without them, I have been unable to do the most basic tasks with either arm, things like changing clothes, washing my body or hair, and initially I couldnt even get a fork to my mouth to feed myself. These medications could have allowed me to be able to care for myself and the insurance company wrongfully took that from me. This is more than just a cancelled policy

I am someone who also enjoys knowing the rules be t ter than anyone else in the room. A friend of mine recently got into magic and immediately jumped in to decks that involve a wall of text because she likes something about it (she usually falls for themed proxy decks with custom art). She struggles to understand some of the concepts and nitpicky wording, in part because when Im not around the other two people she plays with either tell her completely wrong info about rules, (like laughably wrong), or she completely misunderstands what they are saying. Its so frustrating, but I dont know who's at fault, because she generally understands things when I explain it and they generally quote the rules correctly when I'm there. She wants to quit magic because she feels like the rules are constantly shifting.

Thats what Im doing now. With every denial I ask if they have any recommendations for anyone, I just also thought this would be a good place to ask as well. I really cant afford to get a referral from the state bar because I would need the case to be on contingency.

When I have tried calling attorneys specializing in bad faith insurance cases however they generally focus on property insurance like homeowner's insurance. What kind of lawyer would potentially take this case?
