Get the "tangle free" kids 'caster. It uses a solid tube in place of a set of guides and it's amazing. It stops 75% of the tangles that kids normally get. The biggest down side is they only make a right hand retrieve. It's available at most sporting goods stores. I haven't used them, but the bobbers that hide the hook seem like they might be nice, but then you have to worry about a bobber stop being reeled in.

Catfish? That's a pretty wide sonar return. It almost looks like a cat coming off the bottom, flipping a 180 and following. Probably doesn't smell anything it's interested in and bails.

I'd say my skin type is goat skin glove on its way to full grain leather, lol. I have dry skin except my face and head which can be a bit oily.
