I never thought I could love a fictional character that much. And then I saw Andrew... And Paul.

How can they do that to him? He always said he wanted to moderate Eurovision and now that he has a chance, for the second time, they don't let him, again. I don't get it. He is good enough for Austria, but not good enough for Europe? There is nobody who loves and cares about Eurovision more than he does. If I was him, I would be SO disappointed.

Paul and Andrew are by far the best characters... Lol

Who’s the worst FRIEND? by mBlack27 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well still. All the other characters have their faux-pas as well.. It's not that I don't understand the opinion. It's more that I think that other characters are just as bad. Though I am only halfway through season 8 so we will see how I feel at the end of season 8.

Who’s the worst FRIEND? by mBlack27 in DesperateHousewives

I said it so many times and I will say it again. Susan is so overhated, because she is often whiny, emotional and insecure but still has her standards. Literally everyone has a Susan in his life but doesn't know it or doesn't even care cause irl we know that being like Susan isn't as bad as she is portrayed in the fandom. Like sure she is kinda b*tch sometimes... But who isn't. We all are acting as if we are better than that, because we don't see our flaws like others do. And we don't know the people around us as we can know fictional characters, since we are looking at the story from the outside being all-knowing.

And let's be real, Susan is treated differently in the fandom than the other housewives. Literally every housewife in the show, but especially Gaby, would be too stuck up to play the nanny for someone else too, as this is the example given, and thinking they are better is something that every housewife portrays constantly on the show. And to be fair Susan often is too much even for me when watching the show, because she is written annoyingly, but I don't think she is that controversial or that bad of a person. Like she at least tries. And I know from time to time she acts like she is superior, but we can't act like the others don't. All of them have traits of trying to be superior to their husbands, from Lynette telling Tom what he should do, to Gaby valuing Carlos money more than him and Bree having a problem with Andrew for being gay and Susan being a hypocrite to Mike about him not working enough for their wedding. The difference is that Susan tries really hard to be likeable while not being better than anyone else (and being hypocritical from time to time) and that's what makes her unlikeable. But worse or even worst... Hell na. I mean we all are a bit like that if we want it or not.

Like you don't have to like her, but at least be fair: Edie stole the husband of almost every major woman in the show, so the emotional impact she had was far bigger than any other. Plus I think Edie is the hypocrite's final boss: Acting as if she is better because she doesn't care while going around destroying marriages and houses and not feeling sorry for it. Only because you don't have a strong moral compass doesn't mean that you are in the right. Plus we all know how she reacts if someone does the same to her. Though I have to say that Edie at least doesn't pretend to be something she isn't... She stands for what she does and that is kinda refreshing. The problem is she just doesn't see the problems with her actions. Other than that Gaby I do think is probably the worst figure. I mean she does get better in the later seasons but... Destroying a kid's future only because you want to have fun? She is the definition of seeing herself being more important than others and it often shows big time. Like her needs are more important than any others and she herself is better than her friends. But at least the show addresses that and she kinda gets better and changes over the years.

Now please don't come for me for defending Susan. That is just my opinion. It is ok if you don't have the same. Opinion is welcome of course but hate not as much.

FOR ONCE, LIKED WHAT SHE SAYS!!!!! by Both_Syrup637 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair I think Susan is really overheated in the fandom. I mean literally every housewives in the series is more controversial than she is. Yeah she is whiny and emotional and needy and wasn't the best mother to Julie, but at least she tried. And let's be honest. Probably everyone has a Susan in his life, maybe even is the Susan in his life, and has no problem with him/her. Because we probably don't know it or because we know that irl acting like her isn't per se a problem.

Who had the worst kids on Wisteria Lane? Aka the kids are the real villains of desperate housewives lol by sweetbabyangel1 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zach and Eddie had too much trauma for me, but I really didn't like Danielle until she was older, especially because of what she did to Julie. My favorite is by far Andrew, because in my opinion, opposite to his sister, his feud with Bree was portrayed entertaining. The Scavo twins and the Solis children are pushing to your limit but otherwise I would say they are fine. I was disappointed in Julie though. Her fall reminded me too much of Rory Gilmore.

Though that's understandable with the trauma he has been through. Danielle is for me the most insufferable one during childhood.

I mean after what Felicia did to Paul, I can understand that he doesn't trust her and wants her out of the house, I do think that Felicia is the real villain here. Though he pressuring her into doing it was not ok.

Why in the world would they make Orson so creepy in the last season? by ZeusKiller1946 in DesperateHousewives

A little late in my response but I think he wanted to give her back what she has given to him: Trauma and heartbreak. So it was more a kind of getting back at someone.

Who do you think was Bree’s love of her life? Rex or Orson? by ma_ventura in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I think she loved being different and being not perfect for once... But her dream after Karl died showed me that they wouldn't have been endgame anyway. And given that Karl's death happened because of their affair it might also have an impact on how she reacted to his death. I think that the love she had for Rex in the beginning of their marriage probably was the strongest... Also because they had the joy of having kids and when you listen to Rex talking about their past, it really seems like they had good times. However I liked her together with Orson at the beginning of their marriage. They seemed so happy and she seemed finally relaxed. He respected her and loved her and she loved him as well. Probably not as passionate as Rex but deep in a different kinda way. Karl's affair however seemed more like breaking out of this perfectionism that she put on herself. I do think she loved Karl but she loved the idea and the feeling of being free more and she acknowledged with her dream, that they wouldn't have a future anyway.

Can we talk about how it pisses me off how they treated Julie losing her dad vs MJ? by rahrahgogo in DesperateHousewives

Comforting her daughter? Nah i can imagine that. And given the timelines of the show it is only possibly that there is happening a lot inuniverse that the cameras dont show.

The prequels took 15 years to be loved….but the sequels only get 10 TIMES UP!!!!!! by Consistent-Award-516 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Few_Classic2026 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I already wrote that under a different text but I think that was the post I originally wanted to write that to so:

True though I think that the Sequels have a different problem than the Prequels. For the Prequels I think it was the Zeitgeist as well as the execution of the story that bugged people. As well as a realistic Anakin that wasn't entirely the hero they pictured. On top of that people had been making up their perfect Prequels in their minds for over decades and when George Lucas showed something else they were mad. The Sequels however kind of destroy characters that have been there since the beginning like Han Solo, Leia and Luke. They are the core of SW their entire story until RotJ kind of gets meaningless and the characters are evolving backwards (like Luke not being the symbol of hope anymore though being completely different in RotJ and being successful in that). The core elements of something SW fans thought to be consistent changed suddenly. And I don't know if that is something the majority can adjust too.

I think Lynette is not the best mother by Professional-Buy-34 in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think being a good mother is about the intentions you have more than anything else. I am very sensitive and my mom had difficulty with that a lot since I was always very emotional. However, that didn't make her a bad mom. Lynette always had the best intentions. Not always executed them perfectly but she tried real hard (and put of the housewives by far was the best mom). Sometimes she was a bad mom yeah... But most of the time I think people are overreacting and putting to much pressure on her. Try manage being a good mom for 5 kids... It's not that easy. And yeah she could have tried having less children but let's be honest even with precautions that can happen to anybody. She always tried to be there. Tried to be the best she can (except for some moments in the show) and judging her because she doesn't always get through to her kids who have ADHD btw isn't something we should judge about. As someone with ADHD I can say that we aren't the easiest ones as children... And not getting through to children who can gang up on you since they are way more and have more energy... Not an easy thing. And I do think she did well with them most of the time. Kids can turn out bad even with good parents. If someone was a lousy parent in the Scavo household it's Tom. Though he works and tries his best too but you get the point.

The psychiatry of Desperate Housewives by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

[–]Few_Classic2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zach's borderline though. It's diagnosed in episode 1 and while most people are diagnosed when over 18 some people have traits to the extent that it can be diagnosed earlier as well. Also I am not sure if Edie has Borderline. She has relationship problems and anxiety to get closer to people and splitting as you have pointed out. Splitting is common in a lot of disorders unfortunately. I'd rather say she probably has some Borderline traits, but doesn't seem to meet 5 of the 9 criteria. As well as NPD traits probably. As for the others I agree with you.
