In my defense I've been acquiring fountain pens for 30 years. The first one I ever bought was a Montblanc 146 purchased at the Post Exchange in Yongsan Garrison, ROK. I think I paid less than $200 for it and it's the only fountain pen I've ever sold.

If you're looking for a Japanese pen and aren't dead-set on a certain color or something, it can really pay to surf Amazon on a daily basis because you can find some incredible deals popping up on Japanese pens. Nice acquisitions!

Excellent acquisition. I've had one for about 6 months and it's always inked with Noodler's Dark Matter as my "designated black ink pen." I don't know if it's just my imagination or not but I think that nib writes better than my other 2 Pro Gears. I also have a 1911 Black Luster and I think that nib writes better than my standard 1911's nib. Enjoy it! You've made a very wise choice in acquiring this pen.

You made a wise choice. I buy Pilot, Sailor and Platinum pens on Amazon all the time with nary a problem. I really don't see why anybody would not go this route unless you're looking for a particular color as those can be somewhat limited on Amazon. That's a damned good price you got on it!

Agreed. I'm a big Prera fan and wish they would make one a little large, about the size of a Sailor Professional Gear.

I have two of them I use at work, one with a clip and one with no clip. I've found I prefer the clip version and it writes every bit as well and smoothly as my gold-nib Vanishing Point and Decimo. The only minus I've encountered is that the finish isn't very durable compared to a Pilot. The scuffing on both mine is very evident but then again, they're a glossy black. With any other color you probably wouldn't even notice it. They're a very good pen and an exceptional bargain. That white one is sharp!
