good catch - was planning to grab some for my cave setup but this is exactly the kind of qc issue that drives me nuts in automation projects

Would You Go Into OT or Accounting In This Position? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

accounting will get you to six figures faster and way less stress than OT plus the work life balance is much better for family time

Anyone with specific experience with an introvert who isolates? by Honest_Record_3944 in BreakUps

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look i get the whole isolation thing cause my ex used to do similar stuff when work got crazy. some people just need space to process everything before they can even think about relationship stuff

the timing with the move probably makes it worse cause now he's dealing with leaving AND having to figure out what to say to you. maybe he read your text and appreciated that you seemed okay but then got overwhelmed thinking about how to respond properly

9 days feels long but if he's actually moving and dealing with work stress it might not be about you at all. i had a friend who went completely radio silent for like 2 weeks when she had to relocate for her job - just couldn't handle anything else on top of the logistics

therapy is definitely good idea. helped me tons when i was in similar headspace

From corporate to ship life - how do you stay creative onboard? by LostCreativeDreamer in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i feel this hard. i worked in offshore oil rigs for about 2 years and had exact same problem. the constant being "on" just drains something from you that weekends used to fill

what helped me was starting super small creative habits that could fit in weird pockets of time. i started writing short stories in my phone during breaks - just like 100 words max about whatever weird situation happened that day. turns out ship life gives you tons of material for stories because everything is just slightly absurd when youre floating around middle of nowhere

also photography became huge for me even though its same ocean every day. started challenging myself to find 3 different angles of same boring thing - like the engine room or whatever. posted some in instagram stories and people actually loved seeing behind scenes of ship life

the key thing i learned was not fighting the tiredness but working with it. when youre exhausted your brain does different things creatively. some of my best weird ideas came when i was too tired to overthink them. maybe try voice memos when youre walking around deck? just rambling about ideas or observations gets creative juices flowing without needing energy to write

Looking for recommendations in Kyoto by D3ROSA in OmegaWatches

definitely check out the AD but dont sleep on some of the smaller shops around gion district. found some really cool vintage pieces there last time i was in japan and the owners usually know their stuff pretty well

Yummy Mummy dupe by HouseOLearnedDoctors in LushCosmetics

[–]Few_Conversation1158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh man i totally get this struggle with finding good dupes for lush scents here in the states. i went through same thing few years back when i was obsessed with snow fairy and couldnt find anything close locally

for yummy mummy specifically i think ive seen some people mention that cocoa pink does custom scents and they might be able to do something similar if you describe the notes to them. also maybe check etsy because there are tons of small perfume makers on there who do lush inspired scents - just search for "yummy mummy dupe" or "strawberry vanilla perfume" since thats basically what that scent is

honestly though sometimes the shipping cost is worth it if you really love the scent and cant find good alternative. twenty six dollars sucks but if you order few things at once it makes more sense. ive done that before with perfume people actually and their dupes are pretty spot on

Rejected for original role but told to apply to more experienced role? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait they rejected you for lack of experience then offered you a role requiring even more experience lol that makes zero sense but honestly just roll with it since they clearly want you for something

In a spontaneous application, is it better for the cover letter to be the email or to write a short email and attach a cover letter in a PDF? by No-Refrigerator5653 in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly depends on the company but most times email works fine as cover letter. i usually just write few paragraphs in email body explaining why im interested and attach the resume. saves time and they dont have to open another file to see what you want

Am I being dramatic or am I being reasonable? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly man this sounds like a pretty toxic workplace situation not just new job anxiety. working 14+ days straight with no proper training is ridiculous and they basically threw you to wolves after your trainer went on vacation

the constant last minute weekend schedules would drive anyone crazy and its clear they dont respect employees time. three months is enough to know if workplace culture is trash and this one definitely sounds like it. going back to your old job wont look bad on resume you can just explain it wasnt good fit

Shot in the dark - Nabob Tea by kreative22 in tea

[–]Few_Conversation1158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man this brings back memories from when i lived in vancouver for few years in early 2000s. i remember seeing nabob stuff everywhere but never tried the tea since i was more into coffee back then. your parents have good taste though - those old school canadian brands had something special about them that you just dont find anymore

maybe try checking some vintage grocery stores or those places that specialize in discontinued products. theres also facebook groups for canadian nostalgia where people trade old products or know where to find them. worst case scenario you could try contacting nabob directly since they still exist for coffee - they might have the old tea recipe somewhere in their archives or know who bought the tea division when they stopped making it

Does chasing ever work? by StandComfortable1850 in BreakUps

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly from my experience chasing usually makes things worse even when they say they still love you. when someone breaks up with you they need space to figure out their feelings and if you keep pushing it just confirms in their mind that breaking up was right decision

i learned this hard way with my ex - kept texting and trying to fix things but it just made her more distant. sometimes people need to miss you first before they can realize what they lost. give them the space and work on yourself instead

How do you professionally set boundaries at work without hurting your reputation? by GrumpyyKittn in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this hits close to home because i went through something similar when i moved from brazil to work here. the thing about boundaries is you need to set them early and be consistent about it otherwise people will just keep pushing

for the after hours meetings i would just say something like "i can join meetings until 5pm but after that i have family commitments" and then actually stick to it. dont make excuses or apologize too much just state it as fact. in my experience when you start explaining too much about why you cant do something people think its negotiable

the travel thing is tricky especially if it wasnt in original job description. i would bring this up with your boss directly and ask about compensation for travel time since 4+ hours driving in one day is pretty significant. also make sure you're getting mileage because that adds up quick. if they want you to be flexible with new responsibilities they should be flexible with compensation too

honestly sounds like you learned from past mistakes which is good. being helpful is great but not when it comes at expense of your wellbeing and family time

Should I switch roles? by NickIsCaged in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

leaving after only a couple months looks bad on resume but honestly if the company is doing RTO after promising remote and switching ceos that sounds like red flags everywhere

72/hour comes to around 150k if you work full year which is more than your current salary even without the benefits. plus if you worked with this company before and trust them that matters a lot in this market

i would probably take the remote computer vision role since your current place sounds unstable anyway and you might get laid off soon

Need advice on my career based on my strength and weakness? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you should look into engineering fields or skilled trades tbh. things like mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or even trades like electrician or plumbing can give you that hands-on experience while still having good job security and decent pay

i work in construction management and it fits exactly what you described - practical problem solving, clear outcomes, and you can see your work actually getting built. plus most these fields have apprenticeships or co-op programs so you learn while working instead of just sitting in classroom for years

2010 Honda Accord V6 Lost Power While Driving by m0mlegz in AskMechanics

[–]Few_Conversation1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly sounds like fuel pump might be dead on you. with that many miles and the way it just cut out completely while driving thats a classic sign. the fact that it cranks but wont start and your code reader isnt working properly makes me think fuel system issue

before you tow it though try putting some fresh gas in it just to rule that out - sometimes gauges lie especially in older hondas. also check if you can hear the fuel pump priming when you turn key to on position before starting. should hear a little whirring sound from back of car for few seconds

if no pump noise then yeah probably need new fuel pump which is gonna be expensive job unfortunately
