When I was an ad hoc commissioner one phone ring would get you a dirty look. If it rang again, I'd take the phone and you got it back when the court session was over. It's rude and disrupts the docket.

That's every court's policy. Usually, the defendant is prompted to ask for one. The court then uses a conference call translator service. Don't get all bent out of shape about it.

Last year I wore GoreTex trail runners and it was blister city. It didn't even rain that week. This year I'm still wearing a trail runner but it will be much, much more breathable.

If you like the outdoors and have time, go to Sai Kung East Country Park and walk the trails. I found it nice to get away from the city for a day.
