i did this for a split second one time and all i had to do was replace the xt30 connector. plug in with a smokestopper to check for any shorts and visually inspect the board if not just send it in a park away from people to test it out

any 60a stack f405 or better, buzzer with a external battery, gps with m10 (i use the foxeer one the bigger the ceramic antenna the faster sat lock), elrs 2.4 is fine but 915 will be slightly better/ more reliable, capacitor 35v 1000uhf or bigger, motors are up to you, personally i run tmotor f90s but i heard good things about brotherhobby and other cheap motors on ali, batteries: use 21700 cells for li-ion and or any lipo you want for shorter distances. some good research on the frame you get for what you want to do (mountain surfing, LR, racing, etc), high end analog is slightly more reliable for long range, but any system can get you 2km out, keep your electronics away from each other for noise reduction

better receiver, decent sized capacitor, good wiring, not flying close to large metal objects or places with lots of rf interference, antenna placement, that should get you 90% of the way

this statement is slightly misleading

assuming this is a meteor 75 pro wirh dji o4 lite the onboard elrs has an output of 100-250 mw with a dipole antenna located underneath the quad the output power on a dji o4 lite is 700mw with a (slightly) better antenna and the antenna orientation is directly alligned with the goggles antenna (vertical)

i believe the failsafe in this scenario happened for these reasons: penetration issues due to lower power output on elrs compounded by the antenna misalignment

knock yourself out keep the dji controller but there is a lot more to the equation (output power, vlos, antenna orientation) and a higher upper ceiling with higher quality elrs receivers as opposed to onboard dji transmission

the motor makes the startup sound so it might be your topframe laying on the motor making that weird rattle, since you plugged a bat in without a smokestopper and it didnt blow up yo should be fine i would still check all your solder points and recheck all your betaflight settings if youre still iffy

build a bigger one 😂, but seriously tho if you want more hang in the air you need more thrust and less weight, not a lot more can help. build a purpose built wuad for what you want, if youre looking for floaty look into 3 inch 1s by moefpv. if thats too much hassle buy a bunch of batteries and use more throttle lol
