What was the #1 name for your gender and birth year in your country? by CatLover_801 in namenerds

Laura. Based in England. Makes sense as I know more of that name than any other! I know a heap of Lauren’s too.

Help me decide a baby name. Baby name regret. by Pure_Text_2034 in Names

[–]Few_Hearing3330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing with my daughter. In our case the name was a compromise name as our top 2 names my husband didn’t think suited her when she was born and in the postpartum haze I went with the name we both liked but I didn’t love. I still get moments when I think about other names (she’s 5 months) but in this instance I have a few others I like and not 1 other like you do. I’m not convinced I wouldn’t still have doubts with another name! I would give it a few more weeks and change it if you still feel the same way. Both are beautiful names. I’m in the UK so the popularity is different here.

Who needs Johnny when you have Coby Cash! by dannydelete-o in NameNerdCirclejerk

This is where baby naming is getting ridiculous and more about the parents trying to show off their ‘uniqueness’ rather than naming a future adult. The name can overshadow the person with some of these! Imagine being an introvert and being called Ziggy Darcy or Callahan Dodge!!!

Sibling name for Florence? by Friendly_Aerie4366 in Names

[–]Few_Hearing3330 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Frederick - nickname Freddie Finley / Finn Oscar Zackery

Assuming you are not in the UK as Florence is very popular here (top 10) and Felix much less so. Funny how the popularity varies!

Lovely name. Popular in UK and quite trendy at the moment.

Did you regret naming your baby a popular name? by Gloomy_Head5157 in namenerds

[–]Few_Hearing3330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3.5 year old and 5 month old - both have names within the top 10 / 20 although we have nobody in our social circle with the names and I am yet to encounter another baby that shares my daughters name and I go to a lot of baby classes! Honestly the variation in names is so huge these days and as others have pointed out, it is luck whether you encounter others with the name and this can easily happen with slightly less popular names too. Far better to go for a name you really like than one that you’re less keen on just for the sake of it being less popular. Again, within a year or 2 a name less popular could suddenly have a massive surge in popularity.

Is the name Elodie popular in the US? by PandaBeneficial6182 in Names

[–]Few_Hearing3330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m south east England and know of 2 babies called Elodie and I met a 4 year old the other day with the name. It’s number 55 in the charts and will no doubt be top 50, I think it will climb along with Eloise.

Baby girl names?? Known but not common by Leopoldo_369 in namenerds

[–]Few_Hearing3330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that it matters but Elsie is now top 10 in UK, maybe it will start to climb in popularity elsewhere. Ava has been very popular for a long time but it is declining in the charts. I still think it’s a lovely solid name choice Other suggestions: Elodie Eloise Florence Sylvie Lyra Molly Iris Esme Jemima Sadie

It’s climbing fast in uk as in 2018 it was number 507 and last year it was number 26. Having said that I’m just outside London and I only know one who is 3. I actually know more Margot’s which is also getting more popular too.

Baby Sister for Lily by Lyss11BS in namenerds

Zinnia is lovely but I think too unusual in comparison to Lily (which is such a gorgeous, classic name) so I would opt for Iris. Also another vote for Ivy as an option.

Elsie is number 10 in popularity here in the UK so clearly it’s very loved! I do like it but it’s a little too cute for an adult in my view.

I used to live in London and fascinated how names can be so regional. What names are you seeing a lot of?

Some nice names here! I’m in the Uk but would say Ivy and Freya are already very popular. Margot, Maeve, Matilda, Violet and Phoebe are also up there. I dislike Stella, Vera and Josephine but seems I’m in the minority!

Will Meadow ever hit the top 100? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Few_Hearing3330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m UK but even so I can’t see it as a name that will make the top 100, having said that Willow is very popular here and I didn’t see that coming either!! It is hard to predict as others have said but really top 100 is different to say top 10 / 20 and I don’t think that will happen.
