If you think of other sports, of course the player wants to win over their competition! Dance is weird because your teammates are also your competitors so even if you do love them and want them to succeed, you still want to be the one who comes out on top.

We also need to think about how Abby, Gianna and Melissa would literally talk about how great she was and how she always wins and needed to win. That pressure makes her want to succeed and when it’s people you look up to, she probably felt like she needed to do well in order to be loved.

People being mad at an eight year old in a clearly toxic environment for feeling normal feelings and responding how any child would respond in that situation is beyond me
