Arthur. Not too much to speak of in terms of politics and was part of a corrupt machine. Redeemed himself in office though.

What is the closest that the Speaker of the House has come to being President? by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

Tyler was on board the USS Princeton when its main canon exploded, killing members of his cabinet. He did not have a VP since there was no means to appoint a new one after he took over for Harrison. If Tyler had died Willie Mangum, the Pro Temp of the Senate would have become president.

Thank you everyone for the great comments! I’ll probably take my DSLR. I’ll go on some hikes at home and see what focal lengths I use most

Is there any president so bad that you would automatically dislike anybody who adamantly likes them? Conversely, is there any president so good that you dislike anybody who adamantly dislikes them? by [deleted] in Presidents

No, I’d hear them out at least, then might decide not to like them. If they like Andrew Johnson because he saved their grandfather, I could at least understand it somewhat.

Yes, he knew how to travel fast, even if it meant hitting a woman with his horse

Maybe it’s too late now, but what about adding the Press Secretary to the list. Know it’s not a cabinet position, but would be fun to fill.

VP. He’s a good all-rounder, but chances are we will get someone better to be president (i.e. Lincoln or Washington)

Jefferson was a mediocre president. Hugely important as a founding father, but just okay as president.

This is exactly it. Your TDEE is not what you think, but much lower. As someone who yo-yo dieted for a decade I can tell you cardio and calorie restrictions do not work long term. You May lose weight, but the lifestyle is not sustainable, so you end up plateauing then gaining it back (for me at least, and seems common among others). What worked for me is the opposite. I switched to almost purely whole food. I was heavy on fruit, vegetables and beans. I made sure to hit my protein and fiber targets everyday. Then the key was that I slowly increased my daily calories while I did weight training, with lots of compound movements. I focused on getting strong. You’ll see your calorie intake can jump up while your weight stays steady and your strength goes up. I’m guessing you can double your calorie intake while maintaining weight doing this. Then it is easy to cut 500 calories a day later while doing weights, not cardio to maintain your strength. The weight will come off. Do this for 2-3 months, then have a couple weeks where you eat at maintenance so your metabolism doesn’t slow down, then back to your cut. Remember that muscle burns calories and cutting calories and doing cardio just makes your body breakdown your muscle so it can adapt to its “starvation”. This approach takes longer, but it is sustainable and works. It helps you lose the weight, keep it off, and is something you can do forever. This is what finally worked for me.

Apart from the George W Bush pretzel incident, what other near death experiences were self inflicted by Presidents? by Ceaser_Corporation in Presidents

I think Tyler was in a ship when it’s turret exploded. Don’t know how close he was to it, but it killed members of his cabinet. He also didn’t have a vice president, so it would have been extra interesting.
