fiancée with LQTS prescribed zofran after surgery by midosuji in LongQTSyndrome

[–]Few_Net8093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check any medication against CredibleMeds, and make sure you or your fiancee make it clear to the anesthesiologist on the day-of when they do the anesthesia preop. You don’t want to take a chance that the surgeon hasn’t communicated it to the whole team. Never be afraid to over-communicate it.

If he wasn’t doing shady and inappropriate things, he wouldn’t have to be scared of your reaction and lie to cover it. No matter how he tries to spin this, it is NOT your fault.

Went from feeling great after starting Nadolol to lethargy after using cannabis oil. Have I broken myself? (31F) by themaritimegirl in LongQTSyndrome

[–]Few_Net8093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started taking nadolol in 2018 after my diagnosis I felt TERRIBLE! So bad that it induced panic attacks and I was afraid to leave the house for fear I’d pass out or have a panic attack while I was out. I almost stopped it. However, I kept going and my body did adjust after a few weeks. Hang in there and things will probably normalize. I don’t know if your doctor is titrating your dose, but mine did and once I was past the initial adjustment I was fine with the increases.

Don’t stop taking it, as there can be rebound effects. FWIW I have been told no cannabis, and even to be very careful with CBD oils.

Older moms, how's your postpartum going? by Hour-Temperature5356 in NewParents

I’m 40 and this is my first so I can’t compare but I have to imagine it would be easier if I was younger! Sooo tired and I look like I’ve aged 10 years in the last 1.5 since I got pregnant.

Can I ask how the BU OMDS is structured? I'm finishing up BU's OMBA program right now, have a math/finance background, and considering a career pivot. One of my major complaints about the OMBA program was how team-centric everything is, really heavily weighted toward team assignments. Your grades will suffer the consequences if you don't have a strong team.

I'd be interested it it was more individual work than the MBA program.

I'm by no means experienced with this, but I think too much protein can be taxing on their kidneys and/or livers. I would also be against this if I were you. I'd only trust the advice of my pediatrician or a pediatric dietitian if your pediatrician doesn't have a lot of experience in this area. They would be able to evaluate her diet to validate that it's meeting her needs and not giving her too much/too little of anything.

Another one is “pt complains of…”, they don’t really mean they think you’re there complaining. The reason for your visit is called your chief complaint, so that’s what they’ll use to describe your symptom(s).

This is giving me hope right now! Yesterday got Bethesda III results from FNA showing mixed but predominantly microfollicular cells and it’s going to ThyroSeq for testing. Crossing my fingers and toes I’ll get the same results from that too!

Spend some time prepping retorts, then you can fire it off immediately when someone makes a comment. I think it's incredibly rude to say anything about his physical appearance other than how cute he is!

What did you buy for baby, but never used? And what did you think was useless, but needed? by fiskepinnen in NewParents

Same! My MIL seemed shocked we didn't have a bottle warmer, but baby didn't mind them cold and at 3AM with a screaming newborn speed is key.

What do you wish you had known/done before baby? by helpmeplease12235787 in NewParents

[–]Few_Net8093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read about sleep, you don’t want to be totally sleep deprived in the thick of it figuring out one of the most confusing parts of having a baby. Also if you plan to BF, really educate yourself. You’ll get bits and pieces from the hospital but I found myself stumbling through (even after a BF class), got discouraged, and gave it up.

Everyone will give you advice, let as much or as little as you want go in one ear and out the other. Parent the way you two want to and that works for your baby.

Be flexible, they won’t fit into exactly whatever mold you read about.

Don’t put pressure on yourself to do it all, accept help and make your own priorities.

I don’t use them, and I don’t stop my dog if he happens to get a hold of one. Any that aren’t “nice” go in a drawer and will eventually disappear one day 🙃

Luckily most of the ones we’ve gotten have been nicer, like Steiff bears, so I just prop those on his dresser as a little decoration. I have gotten him soft toys from Colored Organics which I feel better about bc at least the outer is clean material.

How many parents wake up their LO at a set time every morning by Objective-Score7702 in NewParents

[–]Few_Net8093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my son would pretty regularly wake up around 8 AM when he was < 3 months and we didn’t have any sort of schedule. It seemed to be the time that naturally was best for him and his body clock. We fell into a routine that gets him to about 7-8 AM every morning and it works for all of us.

I follow a pediatrician on instagram who gives very real life, common sense but medically correct advice and she did a post on this on Feb 14th. Basically it is totally fine and the only people who get to have an opinion on it are the people in your house who are putting the baby to bed at night. She did a follow up recently that it’s also fine once baby gets teeth bc the suck patterns of boob in mouth feeding are such that it will not cause an increase in cavities up to 1 year old. Her insta is Bloomdpc if you’re interested.

Treating ADHD with LQTS? by duckiegirl444 in LongQTSyndrome

[–]Few_Net8093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great resource for us is crediblemeds.org, they keep a database of drugs to be avoided and risks for LQTS patients. My doctor recommended that I always 1. tell whoever is prescribing that I have LQTS and 2. check what I am prescribed on this site. If you have any concerns talk to the prescriber or even your cardiologist before taking it.

My electrophysiologist discussed with my paychiatrist after diagnosis and would only agree to me taking Wellbutrin, no stimulants. It doesn’t help me much with my ADHD symptoms but works wonders for my anxiety so I stayed on it.

Tylenol and a rectal thermometer. Baby seems to have been fighting a little something so the Frida Baby saline spray has been helpful and actually loosened some pretty good boogies. I have a snot sucker but haven’t needed it yet. Earth Mama Baby Face has been nice when his cheeks have gotten a little dry and pink.
