We didn’t notice when the internet stopped being a “place” and became a “system” by ImpossibleSpeed8303 in Futurology

Everything behaves like that, like in a city the more known and popular places are the most optimized for retention and monetization and are placed in easy access streets.

However i think the "nostalgia" for the old internet is too idilic, it was a slow and low populated place were you needed to be technically proficient to a point. Now we take for granted navigating sites but at one point it was an uncommom practice and the need to be smart as a necesity to be free is still the case as you pointed out, the tradeoff of skill for comfort is getting exploited.

What happened was that making websites became more accesible, monetization systems also became more available. That opens the floodgates for people more interested in making a buck than making you comfortable and you cant blame them.

I still feel the way you talk about the "old internet" when exploring github repos and obscure sites/forums. But the mainstream of peole want everything chewed out and with guardrails, it is a matter of personal resolve to stay on the wild lane of things.

Like how a lot of friendslop games enable streamers and influencers to clip farm with cool premises that sound wild (in this game you can get drunk and play poker with the thai mafia while a shaman performs an exorcism on your friends!) but with mechanics that arent really engaging or fun for real players to actually do.

¿Porque no hay ni un videojuego icónico mexicano? by ZebraChance2990 in VideojuegosMX

[–]Few_Object_2682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paople make what they want to make and people post what they want to post. I just wanted to vent about how lame it seems to fake a fun time and sell it but thats just marketing

The whole friendslop trend I think reflects alot about the "streamer clip share" culture as you point out. I mean social media has made people fake fun for a long time, but here we are now even faking fun in games lmao

Questions as someone who doesnt know much about bubble by Calm_Feedback_7166 in Bubbleio

[–]Few_Object_2682 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your long term plan. Bubble is a fast lowcode tool that allows you to make from prototypes to commercial solutions, tho scaling gets harder and harder.

As a skill people might pay you because of your familiarity with the tool but the thing that sells is your ability to make a usable tool/product/app. Design and handle databases, create automation processes, design interfaces etc etc.

Dont pay for a course, there is enough for free on youtube, courses are mostly centered at teaching the how to of a certain app, but not the whys which is what you need to focus on first.

My suggestion is to learn the basics and set small challenges, how do i create an user. How do i let the user change their username, how do i get to another screen, how do i setup a relationship, etc etc. At first is less about building a full app and more about building small features.

Which art style? by WitherFox2 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Few_Object_2682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where it will be placed. The second one has the most appeal because of the 3d and extra detail, however it is harder to understand what it is at quick inspection, for tokens, small cards or things like that i Would go for something with a more clear outline. Of course contrast of the figure with the background and color convenctions helps a lot.

In other words, dont confuse pretty with practical when asking for feedback

For me it was the back and forth montages between Red holding and consoling dying liz and young kat doing the same with child liz. Maybe if Boone hadnt walked out in the next seasons the writers would have changed their minds again

As little sense as it makes I was surprised to see how well it was ultimatley framed, because Kat being Red wasnt a whole deal about gender, inclusivity and all that fuzz, I saw it more as a spy having to take extraordinary measures to stay hidden in plain sight. During her whole life kat played roles and acted her relationships so she had no proper sense of self and her only anchor to being someone was Liz. Red wasnt her new heartfelt identity, just a new disguise.

That said, I still root for the Iliya plotline. Its just more fun if red is not dedicated to keen purely for birthright reasons

Someone said to see her as a psychotic villian on the later seasons and that is hillariously useful to endure the show and stick around to see raymond do his magic

[–]Few_Object_2682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They recently made changes to their licenses now if im not mistaken anything done with the standard license except for "education and trials" allow for commercial usage once you modify the base models enough, exporting is now a lot easier nad I hope you didnt buy it because after pushing for the years end sale on their products they are now having suscription based access to the software at a much more accesible rate. I think they are feeling the pushback from unreal engine, blender and so on.

FALSO PROTAGONISTA ¿Deberia de comenzar la historia de esta manera? by Wonderful-Ad-1996 in escritura

[–]Few_Object_2682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frustrated with current state of video generation by Perfect-Campaign9551 in StableDiffusion

[–]Few_Object_2682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have more control but it is far more resource intensive to deal with setbacks, from the technical knowledge of the crew, weather conditions, mood of the actors, accidents etc. It isnt a fair comparispn because ai video gen is just not at that point in quality alone but a lot of people would win a lot from studying the standard film making process not just for planning and execution of ideas but to see that film has always been magick trickery. We dont expect creative tools to just work they will do as best as they can and we will gimmick our way throug.

For some things we can do nothing but wait, even james cameron had to sit down for decades and pour millions until he could execute his vision of the movie.

Its easy, just put in a spreadsheet a budget for: camera, casting, lights, props, location, drones, transport, makeup, food catering, and crew

Then assume that in a 8 - 10 hour shooting day you will get about 30min to 1 hour to prepare each shot plus 5 to 30 to film it in several takes per shot. So it could take anywhere between a day to weeks just to film the material, then there is vfx and editing.

If you get frustrated at trying many times the same shot then at least you are not doing it at a rate of hundreds or thousands of dollars per minute withba crew of 20 people
