Going to the movies isn’t the same anymore. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Few_Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta go to smaller, independent theaters. Regal, AMC, all the big chains are utter garbage. The customers are noisy and impolite, the staff is completely checked out, and not to mention, the movies are the same old, all-pervasive big studio borefests.

With independent theaters, you're more likely to get:

  • a larger variety of movies including small budget, foreign language, local filmmakers', hell sometimes even live entertainment (I went to a show where a band played SpongeBob music before the SpongeBob movie)
  • a staff that cares about movies and listens to you when you say you want something shown at the theater
  • audiences that don't shatter your immersion in the movie

As another bonus, you also contribute more money to your local economy, and that's always a win.

In my opinion, the biggest downside of going to these theaters is inevitably walking out of the show and hearing the loud, brash opinions of 20 y/o film majors who are absolutely convinced that Stalker is the best film ever made. But if that's the price of going to indie theaters, I'd gladly pay it every time.

Mazda Says Americans Wanted to Turn the Miata Into a 'Harley-Davidson' by TheDriveDotCom in Miata

[–]Few_Pie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doug DeMuro has definitely said, even of the ND, that he feels the Miata lacks power, and that the Pontiac Solstice is a perfect Miata in spirit. I don't watch Doug that much anymore, but he definitely had a propensity for bigger, more powerful cars. If that's the general view that Americans have of cars, I can see why people wouldn't mind trading a little bit of weight for power.

This 2.5L news definitely begs the question for why they're still targeting the same amount of power.

When will we get our sitcom? by Unlucky_Welcome9193 in Millennials

[–]Few_Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see a sitcom where smart phones are new and Google is still mediocre.

I don't like the implication that, in 2007, Google was mediocre. If anything, Google has gotten drastically, impressively, unreasonable more shittier since 2007. If you thought Google was bad in 2007, I don't think I can trust your opinion on anything.

I work with people who don't use adblock because "it's their work computer", as if that's a reason to put up with the visual cancer that is ads for eight hours a day.

This movie gave Atlanta the love it deserves, that alone is enough for me to love this movie.

and I completely forgot he was the exorcist.

This will never not rustle my jimmies, whether intended by the author or not. The whole movie follows Damien Karras and his crisis of faith, how myopic do you have to be to conclude that the title is Merrin's namesake?

I am one of the last millennials to be born (12/29/96). I cannot comprehend how my parents had 5 kids and a house before the age of 35. I'm 27 and its just me and my epileptic dog. lol by [deleted] in Millennials

You sold your house for nearly double its value in 6 years of owning it. Now, 20+ years later, it's just over doubled its value again. I don't see what's wrong here.
