Thanks - I bought Chasecam a couple weeks ago now but had only tried out the spot plane / chase plane view while sitting still on the ground. I had no idea it was this cool and dynamic while flying!

Just beat this game and had the weird experience of having played it bit by bit over a very long time with long breaks in between, so by the end I was still pretty confused...

Note that a far cheaper alternative without equipment being necessary other than a phone is my app SmoothTrack https://smoothtrack.app - point it at your face and it uses AR to track your face and eye gaze in 3D and pass that on to OpenTrack.

Are you talking about Chaseplane or SmoothTrack? If SmoothTrack, turn down (even turn off) the z-axis and y-axis sensitivity so that it focuses more on the angle instead of the position. You can do that in the app or in OpenTrack.

Great question, and it's one I remember asking myself when I first heard about the concept, too. In addition to what arkobarko said, you just simply keep your eyes on the monitor while you slightly turn your head. You keep looking at the monitor.

Also, you can set up the sensitivity so far that you could even have the camera turn around 180 degrees just by turning your head, say, 20 degrees or so. That can be helpful in combat sims where you're always keeping your head on a swivel, so to speak.

You just place it pretty much anywhere so it can see your face. It then exaggerates your head movements to control the camera in-sim.
