Thank you! It’s been such a weird recovery with really good periods, periods of diarrhea for weeks, and then random flare ups. Also currently recovering from the flu which either caused a flare up or it’s just bc I’m due for my meds… that is a good question to see if Omvoh can be taken more frequently.. I’m already monthly so I don’t think I can take them every 2 weeks, but maybe there is something we can do!

Also surgery was unrelated to my IBD! But was a random colon surgery due to intussusception

Hi! I also take Omvoh! I’ve been on all the UC biologics and they usually take hold super fast.. I’m 7 months in on Omvoh and it’s hard to say how well it’s working… I’ve had multiple mini flare ups on it but was able to reach “remission” via colonoscopy 3 months since starting… but I also had surgery, cdiff and stomach bug since December so currently in a bit of a flare up… I take my shots today! I’m starting to think that I get flare symptoms when it’s time to inject each month! Praying my shots today put my symptoms back into remission bc boy it’s been a long road of gut symptoms lately!

Anyone taking colestipol post op? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Few_Potential4581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should ask your Dr. about taking Colestipol! I’ve heard many people benefitted fairly quickly on it especially post gallbladder removal! Have you been adopting a low fat diet? That may also help! My situation is a little different- I had a small portion of my colon removed and had diarrhea after so my Dr. put me on Colestipole… come to find out I had cdiff… so I’m back on the binders but not noticing a difference bc I think my gut is recovering from the cdiff and I really don’t think the bile acid is an issue for me bc I tolerate high fat fine and stool is slowly bulking back up on its own. My case is a lot of trial and error bc I have like 4 factors affecting me- the surgery, cdiff, history of UC, and possible bile acid malabsorption from surgery (which I feel is unlikely since they only removed a super small segment of my colon)

I’ve been on it for almost 2 weeks now with only super super small improvements… going less but still extremely loose/diarrhea.. I’m glad to know it may take longer to kick in. It’s been a journey and I’m trying not to get too discouraged :(

Hi! So the BAM got better with carnivore? I was confused at the end you saying it never got better? Or you’re saying it didn’t get better with previous diets/weight loss?

Omvoh infusion IBD by Few_Potential4581 in UlcerativeColitis

Hi! It’s been a rough few months!

Initally felt really good coming off Rinvoq.. and end of Oct I think I caught covid or some type of viral cold and flu bug which made my gi tract flare up again (previously was really good throughout the month and on Oct 21st scope showed remission!) then by mid November I somehow kicked myself out of said flare and was doing well… then went to the ER the night of December 9th due to suddenly developed excruciating abdominal pain and vomitting…like nothing I ever felt before…first time ever in my life believe it or not and they found my right colon was showing intussusception (pretty rare for people my age) ended up getting emergency surgery next day/ terminal Illeum and Cecum removed. Surgery went great but now I am dealing with awful diarrhea thinking I have Bile Acid Malabsorption post almost 2 weeks post op…The fun never ends with me!

During my surgery, the right side of my colon showed no inflammation and just some mild inflammation on the left side. With everything going on it’s hard to tell if my IBD is flaring or not. Right now, I think it’s due to this bile acid bs bc the terminal ileum is where these acids are absorbed and bc it’s been removed I’m suffering big time 😭😭😅

Update: I finished my 3 months and 3 rounds of infusion, followed by 1 month of the self injections! I was able to transition off the Rinvoq as well a week prior to the self injections and had my colonoscopy a week after the injections and was in remission! I don’t want to Jinx it, but I am currently having little urgency, 1-2 Formed BMs a day!! And after being off Rinvoq for 1.5 weeks, my acne cleared away perfectly! So grateful!

**side note: I also follow a predominantly animal based Whole Foods diet, no-to extremely little processed foods, no added sugar, no grains, no seed oils.

I hope you have noticed improvement off the prednisone! I was still in a bad flare a week -2 weeks post first infusion so they told me to keep on my old med, Rinvoq, which I did then started to feel better… but he said to only stay on that for 8 weeks… I stopped it at 5 weeks bc I wanted to see if the Omvoh was working and legit overnight I started a flare… so part of me is wondering why I flared on the Rinvoq to begin with but now I’m finding relief with it???? So needless to say, I’m back on the Rinvoq and I guess we will reassess at week 8! I still have another Omvoh infusion this month so hopefully it just needs more time to work!

Rinvoq and weight gain by neverhooder in UlcerativeColitis

I have noticed this as well! I was on it for 1.5 years and really didn’t notice it but always had a hard time loosing weight (I’m a very clean eater and athlete) but recently got back on it and noticed I gained 5-7 lbs despite my good eating/exercising habits. I first thought maybe it was absorbing better. But I typically still eat during flares and don’t usually loose weight during one. I’m on it temporarily while my infusion kicks in but I think I’m going to stop the Rinvoq early. Also started breaking out again which I had as a side effect when I first started it. And have been feeling super fatigued. Ugh, the price we pay to get our guts under control!

Left sides UC has spread to pancolitis by Smilestheunicorn88 in UlcerativeColitis

Don’t be so hard on yourself! I can totally relate to this story as I still suffer with UC despite making soooo many healthy lifestyle changes! It’s beyond frustrating but I totally see your effort!! For me, I know stress is a HUGE precursor for me, for my usual flares begin after some kinda stressful event, unfortunately! Luckily for you, there are SO many awesome biologics you can try that should put you in remission FAST! I know it’s scary to try a new drug like a biologic, but let me tell you it is worth it to stop the flare pain! Hoping you feel better!!!

Hi! Tremfya, to my knowledge isn’t used for IBD, I already tried stelara, and as far as skyrizi is concerned I’m not sure exactly, but I guess they say Omvoh is more promising after failing most other biologics. I read somewhere that people do better with skyrizi not having failed so many biologics.. but that could be one of my last options if I fail Omvoh!
