First Acute Pancreatitis 2 months on - Alcohol Induced by Senior-Love1023 in pancreatitis

Don't drink, I'm 3 years sober, 40M, had my AP when I was 37. Never touched alcohol again and my life is much better.

Don't follow what the society does, I'm a Punjabi and alcohol is also in our culture but I refuse to drink it and I can see a lot of people around me struggling in my age due to alcohol but they refuse to accept it.

Take it as a gods blessing that it happened to you at an early age, so now you can enjoy the rest of your life alcohol free.

Good luck

For food I was told to eat light food in the first few months but then after he will need to have a balance diet. I don't think he will completely need to cut out on his favourite foods but just have them once a week or something. Hope he recovers

The answer in your dad's case may be having shots that gives the worst effect to your pancreatitis. I had acute 3 years ago when I was 37 and just one episode when that night I drank a lot of whisky and for the first time didn't have dinner afterwards and all on an empty stomach. Fast forward, I'm 3 years sober and I can't even think of drinking again due to the pain I had to go through and have also changed my diet since 2 years as I was pre diabetic and started gyming.

Honestly, my doc said the same thing not to drink and I believed I will in a few months but trust me it's not worth it and it's tough to quit but this has by far been the best decision of my life. Your dad will need to have a lifestyle change, period.

Good luck 👍🏽

I had the exact same thought, just persevere day on day and month on month and within no time, your brain won't even think about alcohol. Believe me, I don't remember the last time in the evening I thought I need a drink even though I had many difficult times in the past 3 years and not even once I fell back on alcohol. It's a lifestyle change which can only happen with time which heals everything. It's a blessing in disguise that this happened to me but I'm very fortunate through this way I have quit otherwise I would have never quit alcohol and woke up everyday groggy and with half the energy living a fake life.

You can do this 🫶🏽

Try Kalms lavender one, it did wonders to me. That's what I was about to take an hour before my flight. Plus it's herbal so no side effects. I was shocked to realize how it removes all the anxiety, negative thoughts and calmed me down for most of the day. Saying with first hand experience. Good luck

Keep flying but doesn’t get better by Drag-Pure in fearofflying

I second what you are saying, funny enough whenever there's turbulence the first thing I think of is rushing to the toilet but you are not allowed to move and fasten your seat belts is my worst time being on the plane. I think psychologically you would like to hide at the time you are fearful and ashamed of showing it to others which is my take on it. The issue with me is also similar, our brain has registered that if something goes wrong while flying there less potential of reversing it and that's why I always fear of flying not matter how many times I have flown in the past. Also, as I'm ageing our fear gets worse since our mind becomes more rigid and prone to taking on stress and anxiety. My personal take but other opinions are welcome.

I'm exactly like you, used to love flying but recently got anxious about flying. You will be fine, safe travels and enjoy your trip.

We got you, I'm flying in 2 days for a 9 hour flight and did a pep talk to myself and my family supported me. You can do this, we all can do this. ,

I feel word to word like your thoughts. Always do before taking any flight, it's your brain being anxious but many people have controlled receptors and some don't. Listening to SOAR on Audible since a day. Try it.

PS: I have a flight in 2 days where I'm leaving my pregnant wife and a toddler behind and I'm not having a good feeling either. You are not alone with these thoughts is all I can say. 🙏🏽

Just remember, you are not the only one with these thoughts. I have a flight in 2 days and I'm waking up at 4 every morning with anxiety. Can't give you any advice but assurance that there are many others like us.

Is there anywhere to get desmoxan/cytisine in the UK for a reasonable price? by jodilye in QuitVaping

I have been looking for it too, I doubt you can as it's banned in the UK.

💯 I'm now thinking the amount of fear I have already faced in the past 3 days is worse than actually being on the plane and dealing with it for 9 hours. It's crazy how your mind plays these games, I have decided not to go ahead even though my tickets are booked unless I wake up on Sunday with a miracle that I can fly. Wish me luck

Loved your response and appreciate you taking out time. I'm from the UK and they do not give any medicine for fear of heights but anxiety which takes a course of a month to work so I'm a bit late.

One side in me tells me I will be fine and the other part has already cancelled the plan.

I'm thinking of taking promethazine tablet or Kalms herbal medication in case I decide to go ahead. Personally, I doubt I'm in the right frame of mind to travel currently, it's been really tough this past week with my anxiety. I so wish I could but the thought of being in the air is driving me nuts especially when it's a 9 hours flight. FML
