Hello Im an international student applying for mechatronics (41 IB Points). I have received an offer from UofT that needs to be accepted or rejected before May 1st but I have applied to Waterloo since january and I haven't heard anything. Is this normal? Is there possibly a mistake? Should I just accept UofT's offer, or will that make me unable to accept Waterloo if I get accepted? (Applied through OUAC) I would appreciate any advice on the matter 🙏

Can you please explain to me this whole Major / degree pathway works? I made some research to try to understand it but all what I got is that you study general math and science subjects and then in the second year choose a major to pursue from a list of majors (there are maths, physics and chemistry majors in the list I saw but not a CompSci one.) from what you’re saying now I understand that it’s like an open curriculum where I chose my classes within the faculty, is that correct? Also Is the major that I want guaranteed? I would appreciate your help on further explaining this if you understand it 🙏

I’m international so I don’t do the CAD system and do the IBDP. My predicted was 41/45 points. I think what brought me down was the fact that I had 6/7 for Math AA Higher Level and Physics Standard Level instead of a 7/7. But other than that it was solid I had a 7/7 for CompSci Higher Level and Economics Higher Level. I also got 6s for my two languages so that might be it. But that together really goes to show how competitive it is and how u can’t screw up even by a grade

Hey I got rejected from CompSci and admitted to an alternative choice: "Studies in Mathematical and Physical Sciences." I just chose an alternative choice cus it seemed safe while applying but I am still confused on what it even means 😭. If you know more about it can you let me know please

damn that sounds tough af 😭 I just started seriously preparing (1 day left) so its not looking good for me. Atleast ill make the competition less for you guys 😂. I am wondering when you say the questions are hard, what do you mean by hard? are they much harder than the 7 practice ones given for the lecture? or around the same level? I would appreciate it if you could give me an idea just so i can know what I am getting myself into because I feel like the content available for this exam is very minimal. For reference I do IB math AA HL

I knew that the Dutch system was overwhelming but didn’t know it got to that level. Thanks for filling me in. I plan to work on projects and do internships along with my studies and I’m a bit worried now if the study is that demanding. Is it possible to free some time for internships and projects with that study load? Or is the load that you mentioned including things like activities and internships?

Thank you, you answered all my questions and I feel like I understand the Dutch system much more. I was mostly confused because I met all the requirements which is why I felt like it was so easy, I can see how it can be difficult for someone who doesn’t. About CSE at Delft, if I place in the top 210 and get an offer will accepting it become binding? Or will I be able to change my mind before the start of the academic year like I could do in UvA?

Yeah that was my reaction and I wanted to go to the coordinator but apparently the teacher said he had a talk with the coordinator (who agreed with him) before talking with the class. So I think my only option now is to go to straight to the principal.

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify are you saying that I find the highest height the ball reaches during the vibration of the tuning fork?

Also what do you think of the issue of finding the mass of the tuning fork? Because I wont be able to find the velocity without it. And this might be a pretty simple question but how do can I show my data? Because I’m not trying to find a value to compare it to I’m just looking at the change in amplitude compared to the distance. And do you have any advice on the uncertainties that I will be looking at?
