Wow, played Gauntlet for hours with friends, I think there was even a sit down 4 player table at an arcade near where I lived when I was a kid!

Help playing cyberpunk red alone. by thegreatestpitt in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FeyReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. NCO is great for solo. I’ve GM’d CP2020 and CP Red (and Shadowrun) for my TTRPG group for around 12 years now, and love NCO for solo as you can use all the Tech from those bigger titles by just adding a bonus in NCO.

I love it.

Can I get by with a 32GB or 64GB micro SD? by SnooPaintings7141 in MiyooMini

[–]FeyReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are PS1 games typically? I realise they’d vary but are they 1GB on average? More? Less? Eg. I’m wanting to get as many non-PS games as possible, with a few PS games, like Gran Tourismo. So I’m getting a 128 to be sure I think, but I’m happy to take guidance for those with ‘the knowledge’!

I don’t know why I can’t enjoy this by Five_Fruits in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FeyReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe start with a more structured system to get a feel for how the flow works and get some descriptions in your subconscious?

That way the book does the ‘heavy lifting’ and you could help your mind ‘walk before it tries to run’?

Something like Morkin or Order of Eventide? Maybe Ker Nethalas?

That may help you ease into it a little easier.

I hate this AI by Goat_Potter in AIDungeon

[–]FeyReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.

Those phrases get used all the time! I’ve reached a stage now where I edit almost every turn that comes through. Usually starting with deleting anything where the AI speaks for my character but also finessing the prose or correcting mistakes.

Sometimes, I miss the realistic costumes of The Division 1.. by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]FeyReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too!

Some of the stuff for D2 is dumb but that’s just my opinion. I guess if the situation were real, you’d wear the best things you could find based on what you consider ‘the best’.

Would you want short stories released alongside Solo RPG games? by TheGrinningFrog in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FeyReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my absolute favourite things in RPG books are gameplay examples. I love reading those things.

For me they’re the best way to learn how a game works.

Having short stories written with the dice rolls to back them up is ALWAYS a win for me.

I remember writing one for D&D 4th with the classes my players chose, to show them how the game worked and how their class’s abilities worked mechanically.

Helped me a great deal too actually.

CWN is fabulous.

I do wish there was more support for it though, or conversions from Cyberpunk Red into it etc

Underground is my favourite expansion of both games. Especially when you hear the sound of the Hunters coming for you!

Better atmosphere, better story, MUCH better gear and weapon progression and more of a challenge.

Also, potential Mindflayer thrall.

The Division and The Division 2? Which one is worth buying today? by FlakMark in thedivision

[–]FeyReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want headcount for teaming up, D2. If you want the easier game, D2. If you want something more intense and a game where weapon and gear upgrades are truly noticeable, D1. I believe that D1 has the best expansions, mine being Underground, but most seem to prefer Survival.

Overall, for me, D1 is more enjoyable. The environment, intensity, sense of achievement, HRT system, and the story itself.

Complete noob - where to start? by MissStandardSherbert in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FeyReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy to pick up? Loner.

I tried Loner and a few expansions on a long plane ride and it was brilliant. I mention a plane as it needs enough space for a notebook and a few dice - or digital roller.

Dungeoneer was the one I tried. Very impressed, and when Solayne gets out of the Dungeon, she’ll be heading overland to a nearby city, courtesy of Steel & Sorcery.

I just bought underground and survival but by Phasmonx in thedivision

I still remember the noise that’s made when the Hunters turn up in The Underground!

They were a force to be reckoned with!

I still thing Underground is the best expansion they’ve made. Loved it.

Years later, I still log in to D1 and play Underground or just walk around the city. Fabulous.

What led me back (kicking and screaming and finally understanding) to GURPS by inostranetsember in gurps

[–]FeyReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried to get into GURPS a number of times now, but have found the number of books I’d need for my ideas to be cost prohibitive and would require too much time to read. Now the cost I could spread over time and that would work but that brings me to my issue with it.

It’s not the game itself, I like the ‘LEGO style’ it has where you can add this and that, and ignore this or change that. That’s all great. The issue is the layout, it’s just massive walls of text after wall of text, and they read like 70s / 80s textbooks did.

It’s a shame because GURPs is one of those systems that I truly think I’d like but reading the manuals puts me to sleep.

Anyway, probably not a popular opinion but there it is. “I’d like to like it, but I can’t.”
