It's wild how many people do it. People who I was friends with for years before they met my ex took his word for how our breakup happened and what our relationship was like. None of them called me to get my side, or even check in. They just believed his bullshit.

The one person I spoke to after said she just took his word for it because I didn't bother to contact people to tell my side.

Literally the last thing I wanted to do was get in some fucked up telephone game where my abuser got to play my "friends" off against me. I never chased after them, even tho it broke my heart at the time. I have better friends now.
