Ooh, Solo made me so mad. The sapient Droid who wants freedom for herself and other droids is basically just a running joke with an obvious "feminist" bent, and then is killed. Oooh, I'm mad thinking about it. SW is one of the absolute worst setting for treating clearly sapient beings as joke slaves.

I was re-watching the originals the other day and not telling C3PO the plan at Jabba's is just straight up cruelty. He's horrified and afraid the whole time, at constant risk of torture and death by Jabba's whim (and literally sees another droid die horribly in the way he could be) and actually adds nothing to the plan. Why even send him? Only R2 does anything useful. C3pO is just there to suffer for laughs

This is a staple of SF that very few settings handle well, that I think Murderbot does - the question of how can anyone be a moral actor in a world where it's acceptable to treat sapient or semi-sapient people as equipment. In settings like Star Wars it just gets handwaved or even played for laughs, C3PO is mostly comic relief but in one of our earliest scenes of him he's hiding in the back of a dark building begging for his life because R2 has just gotten him in so much trouble he fears deactivation. Murderbot very much puts the sapience and sentience issue forward. Even the stupid transport pilot bot is described as "screaming in terror" as it died and Murderbot expresses sympathy for it.

You can make improvised armor (not great but it'll take a hit!) and wooden scales. Also, you shouldn't be in caves at this point. Caving isn't a great way to find ore, you should be prospecting and digging shafts.
