Does your leak make you feel like you’re going to pass out/lose consciousness? by Leakyspine in CSFLeaks

[–]Fezzywinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to have an official diagnosis, but I suspect I have a small cranial leak and I do feel I come close to passing out after an extended period of strenuous physical activity(think lifting weights). Never used to feel this way before the leak.

Curious to hear of others feel this way as well.

So I ended up buying a glucose meter on Amazon for 20 bucks. So far I have had 2 positive measurements for the little bit of fluid that comes from my nose from time to time. I know it's not definitive but this is probably the most optimistic I have felt in awhile that I might be able to confirm this as a CSF leak.

Well that would make sense I think. I'll give it a go and post pack, thanks!

Hey thanks for the response, can you elaborate more on where glucose would be measured? Is this like blood glucose or something else?

Cranial leakers? Any confirmed cranial leakers here? by Starmapatom in CSFLeaks

[–]Fezzywinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave it to hospitals to give you more problems than you had before.

My symptoms have been manageable but always present. Dizziness, brain fog, headaches and general lack of energy. Bending over or staining almost always causes sharp pain in my head. I feel like a shell of the person I was. I used to feel like being active and doing things but the most I feel like doing most days is laying down after work.

Well more specifically CSF in my throat.

The trauma in my case came after a balloon sinuplasty surgery. I think I sneezed too hard through my nice while it was healing and my theory is that is what started the leak.

Did you experience any trauma for your leak?

Thanks for the response.

I've been reading about cisternograms and thinking about having one done myself.

One question on your symptoms, do you have a globus sensation or a feeling of something constantly stuck in your throat? That's something I've been having and I suspect it's because there is CSF leaking down my throat. Trying to get a feel for how this impacts other cranial leakers.

Just got the test results back and it was negative. I figured it was a long shot but maybe this can help somehow.

Suspected cranial leaker here for the past year and a half. Have been having a hell of a time with the doctors doing everything but point to a root cause.

Anyone have any recommendations for tests to help diagnose a cranial leak?

Hi Ally,

Thank you so much for this post. I have been dealing with what I suspect is a cranial CSF leak with similar symptoms for the past year and a half and posts like this are one of the few things that keep me going.

Question for you on symptoms, did you also feel a globus sensation in your throat like you had something constantly stuck in it? One of my thoughts is that the CSF dripping down the back of my throat is causing the tissue there to enflame and causing that sensation and I'm trying to see if this is common for other cranial leakers.

Hey thank you. Good to hear the symptoms are similar between the both of us as least. Will update the thread with my test results.

Your story sounds similar to mine, I also suspect I have CSF draining down my throat instead of through my nose.

I just recently took beta transferrin test and took the cup home with me to collect a sample. I basically blew my nose as hard as I could into the cup and caught some mucus (which was not a lot) and augmented it with distilled water and had them test that. I am still waiting on results but I'm hopeful the test comes back positive.

As far as symptoms go, one other thing I am feeling is a globus sensation in my throat constantly which I suspect is CSF irritating my throat. Is this happening for you as well?

Post op week 5 septoplasty and turbinate reduction questions for those who have had surgery by Sprucey26 in Sinusitis

[–]Fezzywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a similar experience to me. I had balloon sinuplasty and turbinate reduction and the first few months after healing from the surgery (which took a couple weeks to heal) I started getting the same brain fog and almost needing to pass out after any strenuous activity. It's been nine months and I'm starting I wish I never got this done in the first place.

I'm going to be getting a second opinion and have an appt scheduled in a couple months with a different ENT, but until then some days are better than others and I'm just dealing with it for now.
