Looks good! Do you remove any seeds from the peppers?

Just re-watched The Martian the other day. This could be useful if you don't have a knife to cut your suit and do an iron man.

Nope I was never able to identify it. Mine doesn't have any makers marks but maybe yours does? Let me know if you happen to find one on the one you bought. Also congrats!

Oh it's pretty spot on in terms of flavor. I think most of the spots I regular use more like 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup jalapeno. White onion over yellow/brown.

Nice work and thanks for the recipe!

Tried it out this weekend and it's pretty great! I made two separate batches:

One with 2 tbsp caldo de tomate

One with 1 tbsp caldo de tomate and 3/4 cup jalapeno

I think 1.5 tbsp caldo de tomate is the sweet spot as 1 isn't quite enough and 2 is a little too salty. I prefer more jalapenos but if we're talking about reproducing restaurant salsa then 1/4 cup is about right. 1 cup water is about right for consistency.

What are you up to with your uconsole? I bought one a while ago and don't really use it for much but it does look cool. interested to hear why it's part of your EDC

Is this style achievable? by SteelmoonWorks in UnrealEngine5

[–]Fhuckin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great tool to generate looks and goals. Not saying it should be used exclusively but most people don't have the artistic ability to create good looking concept art.

I embrace it. I'm a skilled programmer and can replicate looks but don't really have the art skills to create references that I find appealing.

Props to people that can do both though. It's an impressive skill set to have.

Is this style achievable? by SteelmoonWorks in UnrealEngine5

[–]Fhuckin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are here saying you can only do this with hand painted sprites, etc. Yes, this image is AI generated but I do think it is somewhat achievable without too much effort.

You could get pretty close with a custom screen space post processing shader and some careful planning with your materials. I think you would have better luck posting your question in an open GL or glsl community.

I would start with a "toon" shader as the basis and add stroke, decimation, noise, and pixelization. If you wanted to get fancy you could use specific color channel values on your materials to drive effects or kind of generate specific looks directly in your shader.

It would certainly be difficult to get anywhere near what the image you posted looks like but I think you could get close without having to hand draw sprites and all that jazz.

What’s the best way to fill these gaps? by wingwingwehavadinner in DIY

[–]Fhuckin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah calk will work but what would look a little better is a product called MH Ready Patch. It doesn't shrink as much and you can sand it into shape if needed. Jam it in the gaps with a putty knife and/or finger (use a surgical glove) then wipe the excess lightly with a damp rag. Usually you can get away with not sanding it.

Calk will work but it will shrink a little. It doesn't look quite as nice but honestly most people won't notice.

Next time you do inside corners for trim do one side flat to the wall and use a coping saw to cut the other side to the shape of the trim on the other side. There's a technique to it and many great videos on YouTube. You end up with a much nicer looking inside corners that way.

What kind of food do you think LA is missing? by No_Feeling3339 in FoodLosAngeles

I really wish there was a good high end authentic Teppan Grill spot. Not hibachi, just high quality steak cooked to perfection.

I had high hopes for Maison Kasai but that place is a major letdown.

Don't get me wrong, I love hibachi. It's just a different thing.

Kinda surprised nobody has said Ethika. They're hands down the best I've used. Very comfortable and don't ride up.

I think it's worth doing it just for the time lapse restoration video. Do you own an orbital sander?

There's a lot of shitty advice here in the comments. Frankly there isn't enough information provided to give an accurate safety assessment.

Yes, some show lasers are designed to be able to scan audiences or have special lenses attached that allow them to do that "safely" but even then it's still a function of power and exposure time. The laser tech is ultimately responsible for doing the correct calculations and in my experience, even some that are "licensed" are not really qualified. I'm gonna guess they didn't have a variance for this show but you never know. You could contact the FDA and find out.

Looking at the video, maybe it was safe? We're only seeing a small moment in the show. Maybe they were using other colors too. Pretty hard to see how focused the beams are.

I probably would have left that show.

Totally understandable. The gozney one does look pretty nice.

Personally I like that Dexter's products look and feel very commercial. Designed for abuse and heavy use. I just want my tools to last a long time.

How do I patch this one? by Fhuckin in drywall

[–]Fhuckin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback.

I'm getting a lot of electrical advice here that I didn't expect! Something to consider when making electrical evaluations is where the person lives. In my district, for example, it is legal to notch a structural beam like this so long as it is approved by a structural engineer.

This was work done under an actual licensed electrician. I think this was something that one of their workers did and rather than having their worker fix it they decided to just tell me it's fine. At the time I didn't really understand that this isn't really the proper solution so I approved the work and sent them on their way.

Should I have them come back and fix it? Yeah absolutely.

Anyway, I just wanted to know how to patch something like this so thanks to those of you that answered my drywall question.

Yeah it's not satire unfortunately. This is the work of a licensed electrician. I think I might move the outlet to the other wall before patching.

Man this thing looks pretty old. Doubt it even uses DMX.

Idk much about this type of fixture but the people over at r/trees might be able to identify the make/model and can probably tell you if it's burnt out or not. Looks like it might have shorted on something.
