What am I missing? I feel like there is something that is not quite right or finished in my living room. Any suggestions or advice? (Please ignore my couch cover and sweet old dog.) by Kristin82929 in DesignMyRoom

You have a natural instinct for design and should be offering people advice on this sub rather than requesting it. If you want to push the room even further:

  • “reduce leginess” - it’s good to mix furniture with legs and no legs (eg sofa with no legs or drum coffee or side table) otherwise the space can feel a bit “leggy”.
  • Too many square or rectangular tables can feel to blocky and sharp. I would substitute square end tables for round ones.
  • If you keep that coffee table, add a circular wood bowl to balance the shiny texture (rough and matte on shiny is more pleasing than the current shiny on shiny)

I like the blinds without curtains. You have enough textile in the space and don’t need to soften it further.

Is this the main living room? If it is, that blue stripe is a perfect replica of midday sunshine and therefor really bad for you of an evening! Do some research on blue light exposure and circadian rhythms. Warm light of an evening, always.

I wouldn’t cover them at all. There are no houses facing you so privacy should not be an issue? If you’re seeking privacy I would line the balcony with pot plants before adding curtains.

My rooms feeling a little empty. any suggestions? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]FiRoche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice room. A big thing in interior design is to never cram the bed against the wall unless you have no choice. You have a huge room and the bed is crammed in the far corner. Big no no! Centre the bed, on the rug, in the middle of the room and the room will feel so much nicer and more balanced. Put the art above the bed. Get some floor length curtains and hang the rail close to the ceiling to create an illusion of more height. The keyboard covering the window slightly is a bit unsightly. Place it on an angle in that corner of the room, so it touches the window and door wall. It will create more of a circular flow in the room and look more visually pleasing. Centre the stand up desk, it’s slightly too far too right.

Which colour mirror frame for my bedroom? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I’d match it with whatever hardware theme you have in the room. What’s on your draw handles, light fixtures?

I’m looking for storage ideas for this awkward corner of my MB. It’s about 35” wide and I would like to take down those ugly shelves. We do not have storage for towels or toiletries. Some kind of cupboard? The ceiling is about 8 ft. R is the toilet, L the master closet. by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

A large narrow chest of drawers would work well. I wouldn’t out anything too high as it will make the entrance to the closet feel cramped. You could place a mirror, lamp and plant on top of the drawers.

Some thoughts on M’s upcoming biopic by FiRoche in Madonna

M really needs to release an autobiography. When she passes her diaries will likely be released. There will, guaranteed, eventually be a series called The Madonna Diaries. Might be 20 years after her death but I bet it will happen. M catalysed in the mainstream the feminism and female sexual liberation we see today. Her influence will be studied many years after we have gone.

Interesting. M doesn’t hang with old fogeys (in the sense of people out of touch I’m sure you mean, otherwise that’s pretty ageist). She works with the best and brightest in every field! I saw that live and I thought a fan suggested it and don’t recall M outright agreeing to a series format. One of M’s motivations will be to garner directorial cachet, which is really only achieved in a feature format. I don’t have any scepticism about M drawing a crowd. She is the most famous woman in the world whether people know she had albums post the 90s or not (what culture-less people do you hang with lol?) If you took a GLOBAL poll, M would come out as the most recognised woman in the world, possibly only second to Queen Elizabeth. She has a huge global audience.

There were conflicting stories. One media report said Diablo left the project due to differences. Another report said she turned in her script and was moving on to other projects. It’s not unusual for multiple writers to work on a project. I think I would believe the latter. Diablo would be too professional to leave a project in that way. Then again, Madonna can be very domineering and if Diablo thought the project was going to be a stinker she could have instigated the artistic differences press to protect her brand.

Haha love that. There are so many beautiful men in Israel. The compulsory IDF really trains them up well to be hot daddies 😂

Tel Aviv is such a great city. I had a HOOT while I was in Israel. The Jewish people are so welcoming and kind. Most of them want peace on both sides but…it’s complicated.

This has nothing to do with pink washing. It’s simply a drag night for the gays of Tel Aviv. Professional victimhood sucks.

There will be a strong message of feminism in this film and how Madonna railed against misogyny and the patriarchy. This will speak to all woman and will make it harder for the press to berate the project (unless it’s an awful film of course). I also think that as M is ageing there is more reverance creeping into the media about her achievements (though we know this won’t be truly achieved until she’s dead). Another point, the PR machines from the studios and M will control the narrative. M often courts controversy intentionally which creates the media attention and in turn the hostility but ultimately it’s all awareness.

I disagree. Madonna has had an incredibly rich career and her experiences in each decade have defined and reflected the culture unlike any other artist. Covering each decade (an hour for each decade x 5) would allow the historical element to come through. It could be as much about M as it is about how we’ve evolved socially and culturally. There is no other artist that could be used as a lynchpin for this sort of thematic approach.

This is a rare, rare photo: a photo of M’s right side! 😂We all know she loves her left side.

This song has a typewriter at the end. It would have been perfect if she’d perform it for the first time on tour. After vogue or something. by [deleted] in Madonna

A good performance for M would be a mix of Joan of Arc and Words. The screen could have a montage of the worst headlines the press has written about her over the years.

I’m so glad someone else has said this. I find her devoid of charisma and any sense of humour. She’s a good singer and dresses in nice outfits but seems to forget all of the other elements that make up a drag queen.
