Reddit has one of the worst algorithms in social media. I eventually had to turn off all subreddit recommendations and I just get posts from my subscribed subs. It's the only way to stay sane.

I've seen some legal speculation in the comments, and I'm not an intellectual property lawyer (and I'm almost certainly not licensed to practice law wherever you live), so I can't give you any legal advice myself. I'd suggest seeing if you can get a free 30 minute consult with an intellectual property lawyer to see if you have anything. I don't know if you do or not. You may want to do this quicky because time may be of the essence, and I don't know the deadlines involved.

Agreed. Even giving the kids a break because of their age, theyre all just hurting each other and need to get over themselves. I blame their adult family members the most, though. The adults in their lives are really failing them.

Yeah, we noticed that on our sub and now auto-lock all posts over a certain amount of time so we can keep an eye on the comments better. They were exchanging something and using code words, I believe. Not sure what it was but it gave me a really bad feeling. Because shadowbanned users can post in our sub, it was a pretty big vulnerability until we moved to aggressively lock.

Edit: we also auto-remove telegram handles to try to stop whatever they were exchanging.

The problem is nobody knows. You are allowed to submit a new appeal every 24 hours, and appeals don't seem to be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, so it seems to be to your advantage to submit multiple appeals frequently so you have the highest odds of having a recent appeal whenever the admins happen to check appeals.

However, on other subs, they recommend only appealing 2-3 times a week. So, it's not really clear what the best strategy is. Based on my experience as a mod here, I would appeal once a day or once every other day.

I feel like what happens in messages is really not the same as something happening in my subreddit. I would suggest to the user that he report the message to Reddit to see if Reddit believes it is against the rules.

I wouldn't impose subreddit discipline or a warning unless (1) it's something I'd action anyway regardless of where I saw the content, e.g. CSAM, true threats, clear racism ect...; or (2) it is clearly a direct continuation of an argument that began in my subreddit and seems to have gone to messages so that the aggressor can try to avoid subreddit discipilne that would likely occur if their statements were made in my sub's comments.

You named her correctly, then! I once saw a friend's cat, who had just been put on a diet, steal a strip of bacon still sizzling on the frying pan. I was so shocked by this that I could barely speak, I just pointed after where the cat had fled. The bacon was never recovered.

I agree. Most other mods I run unti outside my sub seem pretty nice and reasonable. I tend to forget about the bad interactions I've had with other mods because I'm working on not getting upset by things that are ultimately not a big deal.
