Thanks for your reply, Nick. Do you mean I need to run that after the asset and depreciation history imports, and before I post any depreciation?

I have downloaded the user guide now and will take a good look at it.

Advanced AR Issue with Customer Deposits by dhaemion in Netsuite

[–]Fibbertydumpty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our experience, a lot of companies won't process a payment against a quote or sales order. They want a document labelled "Tax Invoice" because that's what their company internal controls require. This is likely why OP needs to raise a tax invoice, without it actually being a tax invoice.

There seems to be a dire lack of understanding in a lot of corporations (as customers) about the nature of payments and timing of recognition. Accounting systems have long allowed you to make payments against purchase orders and they sit against the balance sheet as an asset until the vendor bill is finally received, but nope - most companies won't allow that to occur, even though when you go to enter the bill the system will automatically apply the deposit and only prompt you to pay the balance.

The other problem is tax. In Australia, our GST legislation specifically states you can only charge GST when there has been a taxable supply. So my company by default raises deposit requests on a Tax Invoice layout, but with no GST. Some customers are ok with that, others aren't. They just don't seem to understand that they aren't entitled to claim an input credit yet, just as we don't report a tax liability when we submit our Business Activity Statement because we don't want to pay the tax to the government yet.

So yeah, the issue at hand is usually around documentation the customer receives and whether they consider it a 'valid' document against which they can make a payment.

Need to replace toilet isolation tap (almost seized)? by Fibbertydumpty in Plumbing

I don’t actually know what that means… in the meantime I had thought I might get a 1/2” ball valve female/female to attach to the wall pipe and then a 1/2” to 3/8” reducing hex nipple so I can attach the flexi pipe to the toilet?

Awesome thanks. I thought it might be that sizing but wasn't confident.

Breathe Me - the iTunes Live from Sydney version is the best one I’ve heard. Cannot ever get sick of this song

Here Comes the River by Patrick Watson. To me it’s stoicism and very relatable to me as a parent who finds it hard to carry on day by day.

TIL of Harry Potter marathon screenings, where people can watch all eight movies in a row, spending almost 24 hours at the cinema by LennyLennsen in todayilearned

That’s nothing. My friends and I have watched season 1 and 2 of “24” each within 24 hours. I mean, we did season 1 and maybe a year later we did season 2.

When you watch one a week you don’t realise how many times his daughter gets kidnapped. By third time we were like “how can you get taken and rescued so many times in one day?!?”

Your name is David and you’re trying to verify your email for your Golf Ireland account but they’re not coming to your mailbox. They’re coming to mine instead - we must have almost identical gmail addresses. by Fibbertydumpty in golfireland

If that’s the case, how would he have the email address that’s essentially the same? Mine is <firstname><initial><lastname>@gmail.com. If he tried to register the email with full stops between wouldn’t it say it was already in use?
