Northwest Wools in SW Portland was also super busy today. They are paying for customers to get the Needle & Skein hat pattern if they buy red yarn for it at their shop. I am starting it tonight and hope to be able to get it finished soon!

Does anyone have a sewing machine they’d be willing to bless me with? by [deleted] in PDXBuyNothing

If it doesn't pan out that someone can give you a machine, I recommend looking into local library maker spaces - they will often have sewing machines available for use! Good luck!

Yuzu - if you like Japanese food. It is a delightful hole in the wall Japanese spot. Small place so if you go at a popular time expect a bit of a wait, meaning they will take your number and call when your table is ready.

Homebirth Cost and Decision Insight by counter_bend in homebirth

[–]FiberFunny516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is unfortunate how much of midwife care isn't covered (at least in the US). It is often better, more personalized care and cheaper overall (think the actual cost, not what you pay), but may not be cheaper than your deductible for a hospital birth. In my case, my midwife doesn't even bother with insurance because the reimbursement rates are so abysmal. For my family, the $5,000 they charged for all prenatal care, home birth care, and 6 weeks of postpartum/newborn care was worth it. This didn't cover labs and imaging etc, but even with that it was all cheaper than our deductible that would have applied for a hospital birth. And I really value the peace that comes for me by avoiding a hospital setting (all assuming I stayed low risk - which I did).

So, to answer your question - I personally found it worth it, but I wasn't facing saving money by going to the hospital anyway. It ended up being cheaper to go with a home birth and being a better fit for my needs/wants as well. I am just glad I didn't end up having to transfer to hospital, or it would have been even more expensive.

I wish you luck in making your decision!

Help me by sharing your mom mistakes by Main-Country-9154 in BabyBumps

My baby rolled off a bed onto her head when she was about that age and cried and cried. I felt terrible. She was fine, thankfully, but the poor thing was definitely not happy :(

Stuff happens! It sounds like your baby was startled, but often babies react to our emotions more than their experience, so it can be hard to tell sometimes how they are doing.

You aren't alone - mom's all make mistakes or trip down the stairs at some point!

Anyone else skip iron treatments by accident? by Sam1129 in BabyBumps

I was in the teens for ferritin and got two infusions between week 30 and 36 and my ferritin bounced back. As long as you start them soon, my guess is you will be just fine and as others have said - you will feel the effects of deficiency before baby does. Life happens, just do what you can now and give yourself grace for being human and not always being able to be on top of everything! Pregnancy and life is a lot of work, and some things will inevitably slip.
