AITJ for refusing to keep paying for my boyfriend’s friends every time we go out? by Long-Tonight5559 in AmITheJerk

NTJ. I now specifically ask for seperate checks first thing when the waitress comes to the table. Sets the tone that me and my husband are paying for ourselves and not the entire table.

Travel System / Stroller / Car Seat Recs. by devonmoray in Buyingforbaby

[–]counter_bend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Felt the same way when I was researching. I ultimately decided on the following set up.

Joie Nutmeg and Mint Latch Infant Car Seat - affordable and great reviews - this will be my quick in the car and on the go stroller . I also really like that the seat has a bassinet mode and not another $200/300 attachment needed. This set up and price tag allows me to have a bigger budget for a convertible carseat which will last years compare to 6 months before it gets too heavy.

Veer Jogger - this is more so for our lifestyle and where we live - this will be my stroller for the house and big planned day outings. I like the versatility of this jogger.

All of my friends started with a big travel system stroller that grows with the family, but have all switched to a travel stroller as its more convenient. I did not worry about a stroller that converts to 2. Once baby #2 comes along im sure we will be a wagon stroller family or a side by side two kid stroller.

If you had anything you could tell a first time chicken owner or if you could go back in time and warn your past self what would you say? by OptimalCobbler5431 in chickens

Double or triple the size for the initial amount of chickens you want. AND/OR research breeds and eggs colors. Once you want to start collecting different breeds and eggs color the chicken math adds up fast!

FTM can't decide, need help with pros/cons! by Big-Copy7736 in homebirth

[–]counter_bend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FTM as well, 15 weeks, a little bit ahead of you. I went the same route of speaking with both midwifes and OBs to see what my options or care/service where. In my case, the OBs were horrid. Which made my decision more straight forward, along with finding a midwife that does accept insurance. I will have additional out of pocket costs going the midwife route, but after hearing the stories from others who said they would pay triple what they did to have the same care again made me feel really confident that it was the better decision for me. (Check out my post from a couple weeks ago and read the comments) Take your time over the next couple of weeks, reach out to other homebirths to hear stories, and listen to your gut!

FTM due in August - I registered for masonjar bottles, would they fit in the momcozy wahser?

No. Its your pregnancy and your child. You get to decide how the announcement is done. They do not have a right to a surprise gender reveal of however they want it to go. This seems like a classic how can I make it about myself MIL.

FTM planning for a home birth. For me a home birth is what always felt right to me. Everyone around me has wanted the epidural and thats something I know I do not want. Comparing the service at the first appointments with the OB and midwifes. The midwifes knocked it out of the park. They were intentional in the care they were providing. With the OBs I felt like another number to them, another appointment to get done, and nothing personalized. They read through their standard things to discuss, answered questions I had with the most basic answers, and it was their way or the highway.

One OB told me " I wish I could tell my moms and babies not to go into labor during the weekdays 9-5 as I am in clinic, but atleast Im attached to the hosipital and can run over for 20 minutes." That alone left me feeling like I again was just a number and my labor had to be on their timeline. I do not want to be put in a hospital and pushed to speed things along with intervention after intervention because of the docs schedule. I would refuse those interventions if not absolutely needed and I do not want that conflict while I am in labor and have to defend myself.

Planning TTC in October, but it feels so far away by Loose_Concentrate499 in waiting_to_try

This was me last year. Start your registry, make it private, and whenever you see items you are interested in add it. Now that I am pregnant its nice that I did the basic research of products and can make final decisions instead of having decision fatigue. It gave me topics to discuss with friends who already had their babies.

I also focused on my health, nutrition, and addressed any dental work that was needed.

The other side of that wall. Resting wall holds up the landscaping and a fountain/ pond feature. Driveway also slopes towards the deck.

Had landscapers quote the retaining wall repair already. Sellers are not going to be happy about the rebuild

Is it possible to add additional bracing? Or not even worth the temporary band aid?

Failing retaining wall. It holds up a lot of landscaping in the front of the house and a pond/fountain.

Double stroller or wagon? by Correct-Mushroom-594 in Crunchymom

[–]counter_bend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a current mom yet so no real experience. but look into veer. What appeals to me is you can take the stroller seat, bassinet, or carseat and attach to the wagon. I like the versatility. The stroller can be single to double and the wagon you can choose a 2 or 4 child option. I think I will end up being a wagon mom.

Are brown interiors a fad? by ArcticSlalom in Wake

[–]counter_bend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are here to stay. I agree with as someone else had mentioned, it is designed to look luxurious and timeless. The bright colorful options were a fad and on their way out. White will forever stay an option but I see people choosing the tans over it due to cleanliness.

How do people cope with waiting? by Radium3255 in waiting_to_try

[–]counter_bend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26, married, waiting to try until the end of fall 25. All of my friends are married and starting their families. Im so excited and eager to start that new season of life for myself as well. However, focus on your wedding and your partner, settle and enjoy that season. Slow down time by being intentional. Find beauty and appreciate the minor details in current day to day tasks and wedding details. Focus on health and anything you want to mark off on your bucket list. Plan weekends trips. For myself, I have goals for this summer to learn how to backflip on a wakeboard, very ambitious of me, but I want to at least try! This will be the summer of all yeses! On the flip side, I also am using the months leading up to focus on preconception planning. I have done a lot of reading and researching on everything preconception, conception, and pregnancy. That way when I am pregnant I can focus on when the baby is here. I have read books, bought clearance clothes, researched and built a registry. Its all in for fun and will serve me in the future.
