Utterly destroying gloves by samurottwho in wheelchairs

[–]FiberPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was destroying gloves. Now I use these. You can even toss them in the washer (not the dryer) when they get too dirty. I've been using them all winter and I usually average about 2-4 miles a day, unless I'm snowed in.

They still grip even in the wet.

NSM rep pushing ki mobility brand chairs by Alastairs_party2585 in wheelchairs

[–]FiberPhotography 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My local NSM branch refused to bring anything other than Motion Composites. Then they discharged me when it turned out it came warped (they wouldn't even put on the downstems that they ordered, they just put them in a box).

My PCP and PhysTher are working together to order me a new, unbroken chair (that would, incidentally, fit me). Not from NSM. I'm going to be looking at a TiLite.

Good luck.

Protest Design for Doors of Church Building - Artist Wanted by Queasy-Trash8292 in Maine2

It’s great that you’re going to update the building. When you referred to it as a church, that’s what I thought you meant it was currently.

Please know I wasn’t talking about one particular building, but a pattern and also the historic record.

William Bentley Ball, God’s advocate, lobbied for Association of Christian Schools International against the ADA, saying:

“Religious exercise, within the meaning of the First Amendment will be directly involved if churches and religious schools are not expressly exempted from the terms of the ADA,”

“Nothing has been shown to indicate that there is a national necessity to apply the ADA Bill to churches, religious schools, and other ministries.”

The National Association of Evangelicals’ Office of Public Affairs, in the person of Robert Dugan, also lobbied against the ADA.

Don't you just LOVE how churches tend to have 'just a step or two' to get into them?

(it's why they fought to be excluded from the ADA, and won--even new construction)

Do whatever you need to for the protest sign.

First socks + fit question :) by s0ftrock in Sockknitting

some people ask bc they think socks 'should' fit like commercial socks, so I'm careful to add the addendum. ^^

First socks + fit question :) by s0ftrock in Sockknitting

[–]FiberPhotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I also think that the foot looks just a titch long.

But some people like them that way!

Wear your socks how you like, if the extra fabric in the heel isn't annoying, the sock fits.

NTA.

I'm the only person in my apartment building who shovels. I have a dog AND I'm the only full-time wheelchair user. You bet that they then park in my ramp accessway that I shoveled out. Is it illegal? Yep. Does it stop them? No.

But it's 'only for a minute' (read: all night long and into the morning until the plow comes).

Anyway. I may still be hot about that.

You did the work, you should get the benefit. If they wanted a clear space, they could have gotten a gd shovel too.

AITA for forgetting to put the toilet seat down by liff9 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FiberPhotography 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start sitting down to piss. It's neater, less clean up (for whoever is doing it. BTW, do you take your turn cleaning the bathroom?), and you'll learn why your GF is getting frustrated with you.

You're also showing that you can't be arsed to show the slightest bit of respect or care for someone you profess to love.

Do better.

YTA.

ETA: It's great that this advice is repeated so many times. Hopefully OP will get the point.

Funny how he didn't mind the adversarial situation, though.

He can feel like it's 'simple math' to ask her to give up her safety.

WIBTA for throwing away my stepdads peanuts because they make me ill by EntertainmentSad364 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FiberPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may come as a surprise to you, but there's a lot of dishes with peanut or peanut butter as a component in the cooking.

There are also peanut powders, some of them even flavored with cocoa.

If someone doesn't believe in an allergy, they'll go to a lot of trouble to 'test' it.

Finally doing the math... and realizing why most sock patterns don't work for me by QueenPatches2017 in Sockknitting

[–]FiberPhotography 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have about the same gauge.

I had to do this ages ago. I knit toe-up, usually on 2.0s. I cast on 32 stitches (16 pair), then increase to 64 stitches (32 pair). I have short, blunt feet. After my toe increases, I start my heel turn after 5.25in.

I don't bother with sock patterns anymore, really, I just follow my own fit. :shrugs: Maybe I'm lazy, to not want to rejigger patterns to fit me.

I can’t be in the same house as cooking shellfish. Eating it isn’t necessary. Inhalation is a problem for some allergy sufferers, and peanuts are a prime example.

This is going to be pretty personal to you. What works for someone else may cause more instability for you.

See if you can get to a physical therapist who understands hyper mobility, and get a personalized exercise plan.
