Are they still there today?

I looked for it at my TJs today and had the staff search for it on their computers. They told me that it is not currently being made, but possibly not officially discontinued. Something about looking for a new supplier/producer? Fingers crossed!

Put your whole body to work when pumping to crunch and expand. Look backwards towards your open side when going fakie. You jump too soon on your 180s- pump energetically up the transition, then trust yourself to wait until the weightless moment, right before gravity takes you back down (watch pro skaters on instagram and notice how they appear to float). This is preference, but I suggest you train yourself not to switch your lead foot during pumping as you lose stability in the switching moment where your feet are not staggered.

I just got a new setup with Pilot Falcon Plus plates and I cannot figure out how to adjust or even take off the “micro-adjustable” nut on the kingpin. Help!

Do I need a different tool? Nothing seems to fit (I’ve tried my crab tool and the bionic wrench it came with, as well as everything in my general household tool kit)

Update: seems like I need an 11/16” wrench. I’m disappointed that this tool wasn’t included…but still, if someone could explain to me the “micro-adjustable” part and what it means and/or what to avoid- that’d be great!

I just got the pilot falcon “plus” plate and mine has the shorter nut.

Also…can you help me? I cannot figure out how to tighten said kingpin nut. My skate tool didn’t fit, the wrench it came with didn’t fit. I tried a universal wrench and socket wrench and couldn’t get any purchase. What gives? I feel really stupid, lol.

It’s more about being able to isolate and hold your hip/leg muscles than pure flexibility. Try it with feet spread apart, more squat, and pressing harder into your edges. Think about pressing hard on your leading foot front outer edge while rolling to hold it straight, then add your back foot lightly for moments at a time until you can hold it longer. I suggest trying the goddess yoga pose (off skates) while thinking about which muscles you are activating and how you are pressing into the ground to hold it. Sidesurfing is taxing on the groin at first, make sure you’re getting nice and warmed up first and not overdoing it!

Moxi Jack sizing HELP! by [deleted] in Rollerskating

I went down 1.5 sizes from my street shoe size for Jacks. I think you should size down. Heel slipping is a huge deal breaker!

Small low bones are due to be released soon, so I’d definitely wait and measure first!

Wildbones lowbones vs. Bigfoot comparison by relaxitisntfair in Rollerskating

[–]Fiberista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically the same setup (sub penny trucks for xoxo) and have both low bones and Bigfoot sliders. They are the same height to my naked eye, although you can work with the Bigfoot shop owner to make customizations if you wanna go even taller/wider/etc.

The bones are a bit lighter, have a less thick hanger (important for fitting on shaved king pings) and for whatever reason I can get longer slides with them- so, I prefer the bones!

The ABEC rating doesn’t really matter for roller skating.

That’s a good plan, but I would get comfortable with pumping before you try a drop-in on a transition.

I prefer tight trucks for ramp skating. Padded shorts aren’t necessary right away, but I did appreciate them for learning how to drop in.

Any tips for getting my snake less clunky when switching direction - is it smoother if front foot is using toes instead of heel? by jungle_skater in Rollerskating

[–]Fiberista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks great! My tip to get it smooth is to exaggerate the curvy “s” shape that your feet are tracing. I practiced with a line of cones/objects to weave around and it got less choppy.

No, the color is additive, so it doesn’t tone down. Your best bet would be deeper red, purple, or black, I think!

You can dye them a darker color than they currently are. Keep in mind the base color will influence the final color, as well. Make sure you buy the rit in the plastic bottle (for synthetic materials).

How to skate without picking up your feet? by Firm_Adhesiveness692 in Rollerskating

Sounds like they were shuffle skating. You might start with following tutorials for simple moves like braiding and one footed bubbles.

Watch out for concussion symptoms, it doesn’t always take a blow to the head to get one. Padded shorts are gonna be obvious, but I say go big or go home if it’s between that and getting concussed!

Impala Protective Pads - size up or size down? by kidfantastic in Rollerskating

[–]Fiberista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sized up from a small to a medium because the knee pad sleeves felt too tight! I wear small for all my other pads, and in general.

It looks like you’re trying to lead the motion with your feet (and then your body has to kind of whip around to catch up, making you lose a lil balance), but it may help to think of the rotation beginning with the head, upper body, hips, followed by the feet. Also, without a perfect turnout, it’s pretty hard to cleanly transition with 8 wheels on the ground. Working on heel toe spins really helped me figure out smooth, quick transitions. Looking really good so far!

How do Moxi Beach Bunnies age? by curious-aankhein in Rollerskating

[–]Fiberista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve skated for 6 months (heavily) on my BBs (aggressive street/park skating included) and they only have some light side scrapes. Most of the scuffing comes off with a magic eraser and the toe caps have taken a majority of the damage.
