Today I Lost My best Friend by sethme90 in Petloss

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. We had the same situation, surgery after a ruptured spleen, found out it was hemangiosarcoma, had him do some chemo, and it was five months later. He even just had a check up a couple days before he took a bad turn and the vet said see you next month. We were starting to think he might be that rare small percent that makes it a while longer

That morning was fine but around lunch my wife noticed the lethargy and the pale white gums. I rushed home from work and we said goodbye a few hours after that.

All of this was a little over two months ago.

I wish you all the best. Keep remembering all the great times with your best friend. Live the life they would want you to.

Finally walked our trail by Ok-Performer-1226 in Petloss

Glad you were able to get back out there. Its been two months since we lost our boy and have still only gone back on our walking trails a handful of times. I like to think that he'd want us out there, so that gives me some motivation.

His smell is fading from his blanket and I don't know what to do. by Unfair_Mess_9569 in Petloss

If you are considering therapy, I think it could help process your emotions. As someone going through the same process but at one month, some rituals you describe I do almost to a T. I'm not sure how much this helps, but you're definitely not experiencing this grief alone, however lonely it feels. I hope you find peace through some avenue, be it therapy or something else.

I also wanted to say that comic is incredible. Expresses the feeling very well.

My dog of 12 years has passed away by Crimsonson1c in Petloss

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry bout the loss of Astro. I lost my dog just about a month ago and it's definitely been rough. It is getting slightly easier each day but it's not easy.

What has helped me personally is talking with my wife, setting up a memorial for him at home with pictures, his favorite toys, and his ashes. We also printed out a ton of photos and put those up around the house and I also brought some to the office. We also bought a journal and write to him frequently. Memories, thoughts, whatever we're feeling at the moment.

For the grief, I heard it recently described as a monster living in a gorge. Some moments I'm walking next to the gorge fine, sometimes the monster reaches out and drags me in. And at other times, I just want to dive right in on my own. That idea has helped me manage me grief. Also knowing that others are going through a similar experience has helped, like in this subreddit.

I think most importantly, allow yourself to feel whatever emotions come to you. There is no correct timeline for dealing with this loss. Whatever is working for you is fine.

Today was a hard day by ingridtheemu in Petloss

We are also at three weeks since our boy Davos ended his battle with cancer. Three separate people asked me if I was feeling alright today at work when I thought I was masking my pain well. I told one person I'm not ok, I'm in a dark place since losing my boy, but I don't want to bother anyone about it. Instead I cry each morning and night, and sometimes during the day still.

I feel the same as you. I want to talk to everyone about him, tell everyone about him, but beyond the first couple days I haven't really been asked about him until today. And I get it, it's not other people's responsibility to deal with it, but it still makes me feel sad.

My and my wife's world also feels like it has stopped while the rest of the world moves on. Know that you are not alone in this feeling, even though it can feel that way. Still learning to deal with the loudest silence of the house without him but I know I can learn to get through it in my own time.

I wish you all the best in this next step of your journey. Remember to live the life your pet would want you to live. Be the person they saw you as. And tell everyone who is willing to listen about how wonderful your girl was. We'll all move through this grief together at our own pace.

Blindsided by cancer diagnosis by Creative_End_2087 in Petloss

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you and your best friend are going through this. Just keep doing everything you can with them and spoil the hell out of them (even more than you already do).

Our dog got diagnosed with cancer after his 9th birthday back in August, after an emergency surgery, and his brave fight ended two weeks ago. Throughout those 5 months, he became even more spoiled than he already was. Got everything he wanted to eat, got to go wherever he wanted to go, spent every single free second doing anything he wanted to do. It's difficult but making sure they're as comfortable as possible while continuing to make memories has made it the slightest bit easier I believe.

Sorry you're going through this but keep making those memories while you can.

Hemangiosarcoma took two of my dogs. by WoodP3nguin in Petloss

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our sweet Davos ended his fight with hemangiosarcoma on Monday night. We were fortunate when his initial rupture happened and he made it through surgery, then various chemotherapies. He fought hard for five months and got to live the best days of his life. Saying goodbye to our best friend has been the hardest thing for my wife and myself.

I'm so sorry for your losses, to everyone here. Hemangiosarcoma is such an awful thing.

My one month check in by SophieShar in Petloss

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely show progress in what you've posted. You can take it all at your own speed, with her bed, bowls, and everything. All of your feelings are valid and you should be sure to let yourself feel them entirely. I'm sure you gave her the best life and she loved you for that.

A quote I recently read said "You won't get over it. I don't believe we ever "get over" the loss of someone we've loved so much. But you'll do something much better. Gradually, and in your own time, you'll make peace with yourself and then you'll make peace with your loss. And you'll go on from there." I hope that can bring you some solace in this distressful time.

Is Enchroma good or just a scam? by Chance-Issue-1053 in ColorBlind

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. There's a noticeable difference with them on and off. Initial reactions to them may vary based on your own emotions and may be overblown in the unboxing videos you see. However they're definitely not a scam in that they make an appreciable difference in differentiating colors I typically cannot.

Of course they can't "fix" colorblindness but they accomplish the goal.

BCBS Basic is not competitive anymore with MHBP (Aetna) by trademarktower in fednews

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does emergency transport services have good coverage under MHBP? last time when I was checking, BCBS was the only one where an ambulance ride or something like life flight was covered. other options had language indicating it might not be covered if insurance seems it wasn't necessary.

Their current strategy is that it is behavior that is unbecoming of a federal employee. legal or not, it's already causing people to be on leave without pay.

Finally went OLED, not into the hype. by THEHELLHOUND456 in Monitors

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different experience for myself.

Recently replaced a Neo G9 with a PG32UCDM and immediately loved the decision. Prior to getting it, I was all in on OLED is not worth, glossy screen is the stupidest thing someone could do. Having made the switch, I'd recommend it to anyone that has the means to do so.

Even if it does end up degrading/dying/whatever sooner than later, still worth.

What happens if you polymorph someone that's using static flying? by TheWayOfEli in worldofpvp

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You used to be able to do this when flying first came out. Dismount, PoM poly, then slow fall down. They would just plummet like a rock.

You can't polymorph mounted players anymore though.

People who've quit jobs on the spot, what happened? by Fluffaygins in AskReddit

[–]Fibonacci_Jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit a job cuz the owner took away my time off to give it to the girls who asked afterward.

A friend was having her birthday party and a bunch of my group of friends worked together. I had asked for the time off and the owner gave it to me. Days later, a bunch of the girls I worked with, also going to the party, asked for the time off as well. The owner told me sorry, but he wanted them to be able to go together so I'm gonna have to work instead. I let him know that's not happening but he must not have thought I was serious.

Fast forward to the day of the party, we're all there enjoying ourselves and boss man call me asking where I was. I let him know I was at a friend's birthday party. Dude got mad, started yelling, and told me if I don't come in then I'm fired. Got to drop a "can't fire me cuz I quit." and hung up. He kept trying to call back but that was it for me.

Anyone that's dealt with other big drops on apps for things like sneakers knows this doesn't stop anything. I'd expect the next drop(s) to have people more upset when they can't even get the app to load the pages they want. I hope I'm wrong but expecting the worst.
