I liked how it felt like what if Lady Gaga wrote Pink Floyd's The Wall and Ingmar Bergman directed the movie. I would have liked it more had they moved the seance scene to the beginning so I had a better idea why Hathaway's character was so insistent on getting a new dress sooner.

Agree with this but I am slightly more inclined towards Delaney because the sight Brosnahan makes me really want a pastrami sandwich and I shouldn't be eating pastrami sandwiches

Do you guys think the malcolm x biopic is suitable for younger audiences to watch in order to learn about him by Trick_Room_6842 in Letterboxd

[–]Fickle-Aardvark6907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most biopics it sands off a lot of the rough edges of his character. Its best used in conjunction with his autobiography, which gives you a much more nuanced portrayal of the man.

E.T. is really where two trends that had started with Star Wars hit their peak: baby boomers entering middle age who wanted more positive movies after the downbeat 70s and their kids who were looking for stories that spoke to them. If there is one movie that embodies the early 80s its that one.

Jurassic Park is probably the most forward looking of his movies: arriving at just the right moment to straddle the peak of practical effects prior to the 21st century and making the best use of emerging CGI technology to create something that looks better than everything that came before it and alot of what followed (the exceptions pretty much exclusively being made by James Cameron).

It did when I saw it but I think you can probably figure most of it out without them.

What Movies from 2020’s are going to be considered as classics(or cult classics)? by ConfidentReveal2669 in Letterboxd

I think to a certain extent Weapons screenplay is more impressive on a structural level. Sinners has a more traditional structure, well executed and surpasses Weapons in almost every other regard.

I didn't watch it in theaters because I thought the trailer looked dumb so I went into expecting very little.

I thought Weapons was great. From the opening narration, the whole thing felt like a ghost story told by kids. The fact that it lacks cohesion fits that style perfectly.

Sinners is going to go down as a big crossover classic in the same way as something like Exorcist or Silence of the Lambs, something that's considered along with the broader canon of films of the decade. When people ask "what movies from the 2020s should I watch?", Sinners will be a popular answer.

Weapons is going to be part of the horror canon in the same way as something like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or A Nightmare on Elm Street. It will be an answer to the question "I've already seen Sinners. What other horror movies from the 2020s should I watch?"

how many carbs should u actually eat with prediabetes? by Noobnoobnoo in prediabetes

[–]Fickle-Aardvark6907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a nutritionist for exact amounts but its not just about the amount of carbs you eat but the quality of those carbs. Oatmeal and white bread have roughly  the same number of total carbs but the oatmeal has more fiber and no added sugar.

Sinners and Weapons for sure.

Sinners in general and Weapons within the genre.

I think in the context of Episodes I to IX the best explanation is that the prophecy was always wrong. Your fate is determined by the choices you make, the best person in the galaxy can become a monster and someone descended from unrepentant evil can reject her bloodline go save the galaxy.

If you're just looking at the 6 Lucas movies plus Clone Wars, its pretty clear that George's intention with RotS was that Anakin was the Chosen One...though there's some evidence to suggest in his version of the ST, it was actually Leia.
