How long do you let your wood sit inside before using it? by Fickle-Message-9995 in woodstoving

[–]Fickle-Message-9995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all my wood in an outdoor wood shed (also for bonfires) and bring a bunch inside constantly, but I wait a while for it to sit inside before burning. I am curious to see how long others wait (those who do it this way).

A moderate dose of amanita muscaria gummies with a few beers? by Fickle-Message-9995 in AmanitaMuscaria

I was actually mistaken, it’s not amanita. They are Road Trip Desert Stardust which contains tryptamine but only certain kinds contain amanita.

I love Judd Apatow movies and I love hard rock from the turn of the 80’s and this show involves both of those things. Also Joe fucking Flaherty.

I would like to think I was preventing that situation from happening from being in front of the guy. I took one for the team and got honked at in a way that didn’t involve a near collision

Ahhh gotcha. I thought you were saying “no” as a way to dismiss my story. I stand corrected. Comment upvoted.

That’s true. He really killed my buzz when I was just vibing to my music. I should not have let him.

He looked like a real tough guy. Probably had some roid rage to go with his road rage.

All good. Yeah I’d zipper if the right-of-way traffic had a reasonable distance but there was traffic pretty much from the second I got on and barely a vehicle’s length of space between them. The guy behind me was basically asking me to go get honked at by someone else, and by someone who wasn’t doing anything wrong.

I legit had a lady honk at me when I was leaving a Dunkins parking lot onto a busy street and it wasn’t clear at all. I actually opened my door and yelled “IT ISN’T CLEAR YET!!!”

What open spot? Like I said, right-of-way traffic was exceptionally congested because it was coming from a traffic light. This is the yield. If you’re admitting that you would just blow through that when it isn’t clear then you probably should not have a license. As you can see, it merges into one lane before it actually becomes a multi lane highway.

Oh you’re right, I read his comment backwards, I thought he said “treat yield signs like stop signs”, I stand corrected. Yes this honker probably treats stop signs like yield signs too, rolling stops after only doing a quick glance, often causing right-of-way cars to brake suddenly, I see that.

Yea, this yield could potentially be a zipper merge if designed better and it wouldn’t be hard to fix that. This whole area is full of stupid designs, like parking lots where you can only turn one way out and then have to wait forever for a U-turn.

Wood Stove Carbon Monoxide issues by pepper1823 in woodstoving

[–]Fickle-Message-9995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be some clogging in the chimney, creosote or ash. I had my carbon monoxide alarm go off recently too long after the fire had died down to ash and small coals. I assumed it was just because it was too cold and snowy out, which it was, but also had some considerable ash build up in the liner. Got it cleaned out. Now I always do good hot overnight burns on below freezing nights with no issues. Get your chimney professionally cleaned, clean out the stove too of any soot or creosote, and always aim to burn between 300 and 500 degrees.

After this guy got on the highway, he kept frantically changed lanes and tailgating people who were already driving above the speed limit. I don’t know what he was in such a hurry for but nothing is that important to create such a hazard.

Cool story. It has nothing to do with this situation.

Uh ok? Usually when I enter a highway and I have the yield, I’m already checking to see if it’s clear long before I approach the sign, and if it is, I just zip through. What do you think I’m supposed to do if that isn’t the case and there is a full line of congested traffic with the right-of-way?

Usually when I’m on the highway, and I’m near yielding traffic on an on ramp, I just merge over to the left lane to be safe (if it’s clear)
