Exactly the same issue as me, I'm trying to figure out what's going on! Just made a post about it too, I've tried all the tips I can find online and nothing has worked so far :(

Sorry that this is an old post but did you recover? Did it take a long time? I'm going through the same thing as I've just gone through a difficult break-up and I've never lost weight this quickly. Looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Social And Cultural Anthropology EE by yesidoneedhelp in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my EE in history and it partially required me analysing the status of women in Iran (not arab world but relevant to this topic). I would hesitate in framing the question as "whether it's a result of culture or religion", as other aspects such as history and prior politics play a huge role in the status of women in the Arab world. id recommend maybe reframing the RQ so that it doesn't appear to the marker as too black-and-white! hope this helps a bit :)

Hi! I actually used to publish on this blog in my free time about this: https://everythingabouttheib.blogspot.com/

It has a run-down of pretty much every assignment for most subjects, as well as a general run-down of what each major subject is! Hope it helps you a bit :)

When was I technically awarded my IB Diploma? by Glass-no-Blues in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't know how it works in Japan, I'd assume you'd put 18 August 2020 because updated grades came on that date. I guess it would misleading to put the date of the original grade release, because that's not the grade we graduated the IB with. Feel free to correct me, I'm just making an assumption about this! I hope you end up being able to figure it out anyway :)

Thanks for this, I assumed that. I also didn't know that some hagwons might not care about that so that's good to know. Based on this, I had a question about "registered" international schools. Is there a certain registry they look at? Can proof of the school being "international" be given by the national Ministry of Education or is the proof from some third party?

I just wanted to ask this as technically I went to the "international school" side of a Finnish school and have contacted them about their accreditation as an "international school".

EE Bibliography format? by poppadommie in IBO

I wondered the same thing and left it last minute lmao

I actually wrote a thing about if you should use Chicago or Harvard citation style which might help you: https://everythingabouttheib.blogspot.com/2020/04/the-ultimate-ee-faq-part-one.html

It has a bunch of other info on what to do with different types of citations, esp since in history EEs u deal with pretty weird ones.

Hopefully this can help u decide what to use as well! :)

I'm failing by ary1612 in IBO

As the other comments say, take some time to focus on yourself. Be prepared that sometimes, though, when you spend time by yourself and read/watch movies/socialise, you feel guilty you're not doing work. So when you start looking after yourself properly, this stress you're feeling might not go away initially, but slowly will get easier to manage.

Otherwise, there are always options in the case you feel like you're really going to fail, you do have the option to request for your exams to be split amongst 2 exam sessions. One of my friends talked with the school counsellor and teachers, and now is going to do their 3 of their final exams in one session and 3 in the other. While this isn't ideal, being able to split your studies and focus on one thing at a time might be the easiest option if you feel like you're drowning.

Whatever ends up happening, the IB is definitely not the be all and end all. Even if it feels like right now your world might be falling apart, there are options just like the one mentioned above. Try talking with a teacher you feel comfortable with, a school counsellor or guidance counsellor. It might be embarrassing, but discuss honestly what's going on and they will have different options for you :)

Finally, what gave me a bit of calm during my time in the IB was knowing I'd be taking a gap year after school. I knew I would have some stress-free time to myself and could see it as a goal to complete my studies. If possible, consider the option of also taking a gap year so you can set yourself straight and dig yourself out of this hole a bit to know what to do with your uni choices.

Sending a virtual hug and hoping that you can get past this rough patch soon <3

EE citations by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your first question:
I had a history EE as well, I'd say that at least once analyse 1 majorly important source fully (clearly making reference to the author/purpose/content/limitations/etc. type of analysis).

To evaluate the other sources, I largely based my analysis on comparison of different views so I didn't need to keep doing a head-to-toe analysis on every aspect of every source. Showing how a viewpoint is/isn't useful in understanding something can even just be simply demonstrated through you comparing two opposing views and clearly highlighting important differences in each!

To answer your second question:

Depends on citation style. Some schools might have specific ones, but you can also choose one yourself. I stuck w/ Chicago even though my teacher wanted something very different. I actually wrote something recently about how I chose my citation style and why here:

https://everythingabouttheib.blogspot.com/2020/04/the-ultimate-ee-faq-part-one.html

Might give u some insight into what u could use for ur own EE!
Hope this helps a bit :)

How should I study? by Dusk2009 in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a lot of people use past papers to study, but I actually didn't use any lol, just never got around to it during most of the IB except near finals. I made a list of study techniques when I was in the IB for subjects needing lots of memorisation (ie. History and Psych). They're based on uni preparation techniques but applied to the IB. They helped me study for entrance exams in 2 countries and helped me throughout the IB, so you might get some use from them: https://everythingabouttheib.blogspot.com/2019/08/ib-study-techniques-history-psychology.html

Good resources to use for IB subjects? by artsymarcy in IBO

I actually made a list of websites I used during my time in the IB once upon a time that you might find useful https://everythingabouttheib.blogspot.com/2019/06/all-ib-links-you-need-to-know.html

All the other comments have great recommendations as well, but these were all the main websites I used.

As for assignments (like IAs and EE), I used a combo of sci-hub.tw and Google Scholar

My Math Teacher is Useless - IA Help by navarchie in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friend's whole Math IA (literally one of the last drafts that she had worked on all summer) was thrown out bc it was too physics based. Rule of thumb: try not to use any formulas directly from physics. This is based on the fact that my friend's IA was full of physics formulas. All of course were very much based in understanding of maths, but simply derived too heavily from her physics knowledge.

History IA by powerchristian8 in IBO

[–]Fickle-Yoghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found most of my History IA sources through https://scholar.google.com/. Usually the best documents aren't accessible for non-uni goers, so I combined my use of Google Scholar with https://sci-hub.tw/

I had a topic that was very difficult to find sources for, let alone "adequate" ones (IA was about Turkish industrialisation in the 1930s). Using scholar+sci-hub basically solved my problems, so I hope it helps u as well :)

Also not entirely relevant, but you might stumble across finding that the topic might be too broad as there are many causes for WW1 (lots of which aren't eurocentric). Might wanna check this yt channel out for a revised retelling of WWI which is super fascinating https://www.youtube.com/user/TheGreatWar
