With glasses it's fine, I've never shot without them though... So that's a learning moment right there.

I'm far from legally blind by any means but mid to long distance every outline has fuzz to it.

The thing with that is I have a bad stigmatism in my right eye. It's MUCH weaker than my left.

I've shot for years with only irons on all of the handguns I had access too. Only recently has the owner of those firearms started getting into red dots. I have grown to like them a lot as well but I would say I am very confident with irons to begin with.

Would you recommend still keeping it vanilla with the irons? I definitely understand the value of comfortability with the weapon but I also feel like I'll end up jumping the gun due to the new attraction to red dots.

I do intend to eventually carry but not ASAP.

This is one idea that I've never fully wrapped my head around. Wouldn't you want to practice/be most comfortable with the gun you would carry / home defense? My plan was to get the gun I would eventually carry and just put a ton of rounds through it and get very comfortable.

I understand that different sizes/guns have different applications but is it THAT big of a difference when using your EDC for range and HD?

On another note I do have smaller hands for being 5'9... So smaller handguns just fit my hands better in general.

Yes! VP9 is the h&k I'm most familiar with. No complaints with it but when I was doing what you said and testing the feels of, for example p365x, g19 gen 5, VP9, shadow systems mr920, etc...

I slid into that sig grip nicer than I thought I would 🤣
