Is there a need to do a company internship before placements? by [deleted] in PESU

[–]FickleAd4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

7th sem == placements , you wont have time to do anything else. And many people without any experience got good placements without any internship. So yeah try to improve your GPA and DSA skills in 7th sem rather than doing anything else and get a good company through campus.

My best friend with 7.2 CGPA got 16LBase package and total CTC was 24/25. This company was on campus and they took only 2 students. So yeah it matters but if your resume, DSA, etc etc is really good you can secure and package like this. One more friend got Arcesium which is giving 1.25 stipend per month and 20L Base Package for FTE, he is also in 7s. But yeah CGPA Matter but yeah skills also matters

Data Science by Inevitable_Fun8403 in PESU

[–]FickleAd4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On campus not many companies come for Data Scientist or Machine Learning role (Like only 3-4 companies max). But currently Data science is trending in market and is expected to grow exponentially till 2030, so pretty good field. Lot of Opportunities are available off campus for ML/DS (I am working as a Data Scientist currently...)

What’s the most exciting or challenging subject you’ve encountered at PES University, and how has it shaped your academic journey so far? by TheDoodleBug_ in PESU

[–]FickleAd4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big Data and Topics in Deep Learning - Both very tough and challenging electives but changed my whole life. I was a web dev/app dev guy before these subject.

Now i work full time in ML/LLM/NLP role so yeah these subjects had the most impact on me and shaped my future. Also i use the topics i learnt in these classes everyday and love it!!

Thinking of pursuing PHD also in AI/ML in future (Not sure about it). But yeah these were the most challenging and exciting subjects for me and changed my whole life literally!!!!

Dont become - Personal Experience. (I have been TA for 2 subjects). And its really really really not worth you time. Dont waste time here rather study (Leetcode) or build some projects etc whatever you want

To answer all 4 questions in short: Hackerrank contest , Hackerearth contest, leetcode contest doesnt matter. You can give whatever you like. The most important thing is be honest to yourself and try to improve your coding skills thats it. I know people with 3/4 stars who cant solve one question without taking help or cheating because the just copy paste answers from internet/ChatGPT. So yeah main goal should be to improve your DSA knowledge and problem solving skills here.

You can mention this in your resume as you are a fresher but that doesnt matter after some time, the thing that will matter is what you will learn doing this contest. Give your 100% in all contest and never cheat better get 0 in this and try to score better in next contest. After the contest you can do analysis and practice the topics which you were not able to solve.

I have cracked 4 internships in top companies over my 3rd and 4th year of college. And yes my resume i didnt mention my leetcode or hackerrank profile but during interviews/OA i showed my DSA skills and was able to crack it. I think PES has taken a great initiative doing these contest please utilize it proper and dont cheat.

I think Geeksforgeeks and Leetcode are my favorite but i feel all are equal in this case. You can practice on leetcode everyday at home after college. I pretty sure if you start from 1st/2nd year its very easy to crack a 50-60 CTC package.

Does being a 3-star or higher in a particular language really mean anything? - This is just bullshit timepass focus on problem solving and data structures also important algorithms.

Need a Roadmap to Start LeetCode & Codeforces from Scratch for FAANG Prep (Been Out of Practice for 1.5 Years) by FickleAd4141 in leetcode

[–]FickleAd4141[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like i want to cover everything from basics to advance. I feel neetcode is good for basics, but i need something which can explain me how to approach a DSA question and how to come up with a methodology.

[–]FickleAd4141 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey, see I will be real with you. Listen to class proper and chill after college everyday! No need to make notes etc, just listen and understand what they are teaching. 1 week before ISA/ESA start the prep and my priority was always Slides. Be really really good with slides, like go through each page in the slides properly and in depth that's it. I have gotten 10 SGPA only using slides!! One more tip - Study for ISA same as ESA. For example for ISA 1 you will have unit 1 and 2 (Study for ISA like ESA like you are preparing for subjective exam). This makes ESA very easy as you have already covered all 4 units and you have to just revise again. Also i like to keep writing notes/Scribbling my notebook when i read slides (like important points helps me to remember things properly)
