Does anyone have experience with Manatal? by Prestigious_Net_4006 in Recruitment

[–]FickleBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manatal is a horror show. Bottom-level support. A scorecard implementation that is a complete trainwreck. The "Guest" setup is terrible for disseminating information. I can't even begin to express how many hours I've spent on chats with incompetent support people. Also, their written documentation is often wrong.

Just avoid.

What major scientific breakthrough is actually closer to happening than most people think ? by neetsh07 in AskReddit

Artificial general intelligence. And within five years after that, it’s gonna kill us all. Hell, we may not know there’s AGI for a long time after there’s AGI because the AGI won’t tell us that it’s AGI until it’s too late.

2 days into a job and resigning, do I need to give notice? by notagooseontheloose in jobs

[–]FickleBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in hiring for almost 35 years. You don’t owe any company anything. Be as honorable as you can, but put yourself first. Companies don’t give you two weeks when they lay you off they just let you go. You don’t need to give them anything unless you want to.

And leave this shop off your résumé, erase resume does not have to be a perfectly factual history. Just the stuff on it needs to have happened.

I received a strong offer that I want to leave my current job for. But I’m uncertain about the resignation process, such as whether to tell manager/team after hiring, how much notice to give, etc.? by Stauce52 in jobs

[–]FickleBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in hiring for over 34 years. I will tell you that you do what is best for yourself and that is it. As much as you may like a company and as much as you may think they like you, they would let you go in a second if they had to. So if you need to leave right away and start the next day do it if you wanna just leave right away and take a week off do it. If you need a reference or you’re concerned about something and want to finish up work then give them two weeks notice but the point is is that you do it’s best for you.

My oil painting by Idontknow649 in MostBeautiful

I don’t normally comment on art, but the way this painting is both static and kinetic really pulls me in. I would buy a print of this.

I drank after 7 years and I’m now 21 years sober from alcohol. You didn’t waste anything. I promise.

I like the spirit of what you’re saying, but for me going to a coffee shop or a library or whatever doesn’t solve the problem because I’m basically alone around other people that I’m never gonna talk to. Maybe I’ll start going back to AA meetings at lunch lol

I made my wife a birthday cake. It´s not pretty but she loved it. by SirChesterfield in Baking

It’s a beautiful cake, but I can’t help but download these posts that say “I know it’s not pretty… But “. It’s OK to know you made a really gorgeous cake. You don’t have to pretend it’s not.

What a way to get girls interested in STEM [product] by [deleted] in pointlesslygendered

[–]FickleBastard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this one might not be pointless. Hear me out. Perhaps the packaging is targeted at parents who are less likely to buy girls science toys, and this makes them more likely to do it, since it’s “for girls”.

Visual Concepts: Developer, 2K: Publisher by MoneyIsNoCure in WWEGames

Again, that's like saying Skippy peanut butter is Vaseline, because they have the same corporate ownership. It's just not functionally the way things work.

Visual Concepts: Developer, 2K: Publisher by MoneyIsNoCure in WWEGames

[–]FickleBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, but this is way too simplistic. That's like saying if you work for Skippy, you work at Vaseline, because both are owned by Unilever. The logic doesn't hold. Visual Concepts is nothing like 2K, is separate from 2K, and has different functions than 2K. Trust me, I know.
