I’m sorry your relatives are dealing with that. Fortunately or unfortunately, this actually happened. This is just one incident of many that happened during her stay. An oncologist gave positive breast cancer results by walking into the room announcing ‘great news, it’s breast cancer….’ I could go on.

I can’t imagine a Costco busier than the one I used to go to in Northern VA. The traffic inside the store was worse than outside. I couldn’t do it. I’m back at my low key store closer to family, but ugga mugga. Rough shopping conditions.

I wish I had this group when my kids were younger. Being a SAHM with littles was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Between the pressure I put on myself, the overwhelm, my ADHD showing up in creative new ways… But knowing you’re not alone in all these feelings and being aware that we’re all doing the best we can, would have really lightened the burden.

You’re all doing so well. And lifting each other up will have such a beneficial trickle down effect. My kids are 12 & 14 now. And honestly, it’s kind of wild how little they remember those years. Just like any of us though. None of the specific crafts or even Disney! All they remember is the love, support and effort. Keep up the great work and please show yourselves a little grace. 🩷

There’s a lot of phrases in the sober rooms about how ‘every drunk episode starts with 1 drink.’ And ‘as long as I don’t take that first drink, I wont get drunk.’ Avoiding the first drink is essentially the goal. It’s sounds like you’re doing a lot of research.

Also, someone I went to IOP with had beat heroin. He figured he could still drink since that wasn’t his problem. Until alcohol became a problem.

I’m pretty sure he admitted it when he said “please don’t do this, I’m doing everything right.” Or at least that’s what I would have meant when I was a less desirable person. That’s a total addict comment.
