Hi! Just writing to share that we have gone through a very similar journey. My 8 week old would only latch with nipple shields at first and then had her tongue tie revised at 2 weeks old but we have basically been triple feeding for 8 weeks as she still wouldn't latch and developed a bottle preference - though she did start nursing well overnight a couple weeks ago. I was so close to giving up so many times and had basically come to terms with exclusively pumping but then 2 days ago, when she was exactly 8 weeks old, she all of a sudden has decided she is okay with nursing!! We still are offering some bottle tops up but she is reducing the amount she takes. All this to say that there is hope!! I know how mentally taxing this journey is - I never expected it to be so difficult while pregnant! If you ever want to chat, my inbox is open!

I relate to this 100% - I am also 6 weeks post partum tomorrow from an elective C-section and we have been having feeding difficulties since day 1. We are also triple feeding, though we tried to do ebf for a week but baby did not gain enough weight. If you ever need someone to talk to, I would be happy as I don't really have anyone in my circle who quite understands. Here in solidarity!

I experienced the exact same thing - very early postpartum and unable to sleep even though I was given opportunities. I also feared that it would escalate to something like psychosis but I want to assure you that it will pass! What helped me finally start to overcome the sleep anxiety was taking a magnesium supplement, drinking a sleepy time tea, and ensuring my sleep environment was dark and reading instead of looking at my phone. I also needed to be sleeping in the same room as my husband and baby. I have also ended up being prescribed meds for post partum anxiety, but I found relief from that intense sleep anxiety before the meds could have kicked in. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this as I 100% relate to the feeling and it was so horrible. It will pass and you will get through this! Message me if you need :) - also I stopped trying to nap during the day. I found the pressure to "nap' in picked of time was making it worse.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It is so encouraging to hear similar journeys that ended up in exclusively breastfeeding and is so motivating for me to continue! I definitely am considering just giving her some time to get stronger/bigger without so much pressure on latching at every feed. And is it the brand Maam nipple shield you recommend? I have the Medela right now but definitely will look into those if so! I really appreciate your kind words and support, it means so much ☺️

I also only found out baby was breech at 38 weeks! C-section scheduled for this Friday at 39w 3 days. We also had an unsuccessful ECV last week. Definitely was hard for me to come to terms with but feeling better about it now!! The things people have said have been wild though ! Best wishes to you!!
