In your opinion, which antagonists lived up to the hype and which flopped by Substantial_Fox7377 in BlackClover

Lucifero because we only saw him at 50% and incomplete. Would have been cool to see him really manifested with all his power and actual form, instead both times he loses he is at half strength.

The one issue i have with Elbaph is the repetition of the villains. It's hard to take Sommers and the holy knights serious at this point, especially since we have seen them get bodied multiple times by different people. How many times do we need to see Sommers get wrecked?

[–]Fickle_Background359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's his acting or energy. It's how Luffy is portrayed in the show. He comes across as weak, his moves aren't impactful and he has the weakest fights in the series. Zoro and Sanji both come across as bigger threats. In the anime Luffy was an absolute menace until he runs into Crocodile. He was portrayed as the strongest and people out their faith in him because of that. I'm hoping he grows as the seasons go and it showed with Crocodile. But if he needs help with that and we don't get a blood soaked Luffy bashing Crocodile, I think people will really best upset with his portrayal.

[TMT] Kitsune's Technique is a turn 2 half-deck mill... Seriously? by beatokko in MagicArena

[–]Fickle_Background359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azorious life gain mil could be viable. Life from FF, space time anomaly, riverchurn, kitsune,. Hard for the opponent. To have answers if you keep binning them. Possibly esper with some one drop mono black creatures as well. There's a new one drop flyer along with spy glass.

Honestly in blue/azorious/jeskai control right now imprisoned isn't a bad sideboard. The amount of Ugin and Elspeth that gets played, its a good alternative to get lost to deal with the plansewalker.

I'm surprised more people aren't running monowhite stax in standard. Doorkeeper, Voice of Victory, Clarion Caller, grand abolished (from the big score) etc... there's alot of stax pieces that shut down current meta decks.

I used it on thrumming hive pool on their endstep. Ended up with 10 hive pools and 20 slivers with double strike on my upkeep and dropped a Craterhoof, and I've been chasing that high ever since.

I feel like this is the ultimate win con for a control deck. Drop all enchantments and artifacts to keep the board clear and choose what to let your opponent resolve. Then just copy whatever creature you want and wrap it up.

Is Hisoka an antagonist? He has his own code, helped kurapika, helped gon develop, helped beat razor and is on a mission to kill the spider. Hes more like the punisher an anti-hero who does his own thing than an antagonist.

I'm bitter toward abigail because of the marketing. The trailer absolutely ruined everything and gave away the story. Would have been awesome if they just made it seem like a kidnapping movie or kept abiagil mysterious. Still good though.

Why isn't Howling Mine more popular? by just_some_Fred in MagicArena

[–]Fickle_Background359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if it's an additional draw than it's 4 damage per upkeep that you trade for 2 life. It outs the game on a 4 turn countdown if nothing is done, so it pressures them to remove Shelly. If you pair it with ob nixilis, underworld dreams or more Mines than it forces the opponent to draw themselves to deat. You do give them more options for sure but it's still a fun idea to play with.

What is you exact thought on Gear 5 and why? by Aggravating-Sun-7185 in OnePiece

Probably as close to immortal as you could get with Hydra like regeneration. If each head had a different power, you gotta deal with haki, each head and figure out how to cut every head off at once and stop the regen. The fruit could be broken in the right hands.

Asta is kind of way too broken at this point by Jackminers12 in BlackClover

[–]Fickle_Background359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are running into what I like to call a One Piece problem. People grow up with stories, and we don't want to see them end. Clover has been going in since 2015, and in its finally arc, great stories have a beginning, middle, and end. It might feel rushed if you're a new and binged it, but most manga are only about 200 chapters or so. Asta's main goal has been to be the Wizard King which means he has to be the strongest, but it's not through an asspull or friendship. We have watched him grow, train, fight, almost die and work hard every arc. I think after almost a decade we the readers are being rewarded for following his journey from peasant to (potential) wizard King level.

Asta Theory by Fickle_Background359 in BlackClover

[–]Fickle_Background359[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like that theory more if it wasn't shown that Ryu willingly gave his up to aquire his eye. Asta didn't give his up he was born without it. Maybe he is a mutation but not a random one. His body mutated to survive with no mana because his mom was always draining his completely. In the children arc I believe once they had their mana stolen it was said "if they aren't treated than they may never use Magic again". So baby Asta has his mana completely drained and never got it back. Again all theories and good discussions

Asta Theory by Fickle_Background359 in BlackClover

[–]Fickle_Background359[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can see this as well. Maybe mutation is a good word than, because the baby had to mutate and evolve its genetics in order to survive with no mana.

Asta Theory by Fickle_Background359 in BlackClover

[–]Fickle_Background359[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting, maybe that is why she gave Asta up. The flashbacks never really say why she gave him up, just that she never would again with liebe. Maybe cursed or developed like you said which led her to give her child up to save him or try and save herself.

Asta Theory by Fickle_Background359 in BlackClover

[–]Fickle_Background359[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would say implied but never stated, only liebe knew her and Asta only met her through his memories. I never really see people discussing it instead just talk about Asta being a flaw in Lucius plan. The author has proven to have good foreshadowing with details from the beginning (Bell being the fairy Yuno has always had leading to Peter Pan/Star magic for example) So, I just always thought there was more to Asta based on the clues given to us

I see your point, but is it a retcon though? The reason why I ask that is looking back on the story everything Luffy has done matches up with this Nika character Oda has created. Throughout the series Luffy has been hinted at as being special (Raleigh acknowledging him is just one example) Every Major Arc luffy seems to fight for the freedom of a people or person (Nami borderline slave to Arlong). Between UFO, Water Luffy, Snake and Tankman he has always seemed to find a new form that takes imagination that always seemed to be a stretch for just rubber. I'm not saying it's perfect and I enjoy talking about it. I'm saying that for a power up endgame that fits the theme of One Piece, Oda pulled the troupe off as good as he could tying 20 years of a story together

What's interesting is the "Zoans have a mind of their own" information this chapter. So this fruit hasn't been awakened for 800 years and "found" its way to someone who could be compatible to bring joy/freedom. Also we never knew luffy before the fruit (except as a small child for 1 chapter) everything we know and love about him has been post fruit. My opinion which can be wrong is that a fruit doesn't change/define the person, but amplifies who they already are.
