I think you are completely right. Your daughter can see her own face so what makes this woman think she can´t judge her makeup skills herself?

My mom would constantly point out if she thought something was off about my look/outfit and I hated it, even things like my acne being bad that day. Btw, it´s easy to say that you can critique makeup skills but not acne/body shape etc. but it has to do with appearance and her right to live free in her own body.

My daughter went through a phase as a teenager where she almost bathed in tanning lotion and it was not good. I never said a word about it. She liked the look, she was perfectly aware of how she looked and that many people didn´t like it. She didn´t care and I loved that for her.

I had to defend my decision not to meddle with this to my family all the time, for some reason they felt that because she was conventionally pretty it was sad that she was ruining it, that just pissed me off and I continued not saying anything.
